Re: Scrimmage Cancelled
Usually during scrimmages a sack is when they get super close, but not actually tackle the QB. I was not there, but I would almost guarantee it was this way yesterday.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑August 7th, 2022, 3:51 pmWere they actually tackling the quarterbacks to were they calling sacks if you got too close to the quartback?

Right, so are 6 scrimmage sacks the same as 6 in game sacks?Aggie84025 wrote: ↑August 7th, 2022, 6:11 pmUsually during scrimmages a sack is when they get super close, but not actually tackle the QB. Honest question.

Think two hand touch football sacks. Quarterbacks have the opportunity to use moves to get the defender away in games, or throw the ball away, that they don't have in practices.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑August 7th, 2022, 6:41 pmRight, so are 6 scrimmage sacks the same as 6 in game sacks?Aggie84025 wrote: ↑August 7th, 2022, 6:11 pmUsually during scrimmages a sack is when they get super close, but not actually tackle the QB. Re: Scrimmage Cancelled
From my experience watching spring and fall scrimmages (maybe 20 of them) I think they give the QB more leeway than he'd get in a real game because the defense isn't lunging or diving at the qb. They slow up. I'd say 6 scrimmage sacks would be a minimum of 6 in game. The exception is if you have somebody really shifty like Chuckie who could miracle out of ankle tackles.LarryTheAggie wrote:Right, so are 6 scrimmage sacks the same as 6 in game sacks?Aggie84025 wrote: ↑August 7th, 2022, 6:11 pmUsually during scrimmages a sack is when they get super close, but not actually tackle the QB. Re: Scrimmage Cancelled
I've seen it happen in the pros, only it was during the season and the team walks away with a loss. Having this experience in a practice game? It's like a wakeup call. A good thing. OL has over 2 weeks to study film and make adjustments.
