Re: How many years left of paying BA to coach?
Stop with this. I was one of the leaders of it and have since grown up. Blake is a fine coach. A great recruiter, and will get this ship righted with the right Defensive Coordinator.
Give this team some time. SJSU is a good team, as good as we are. Blake got worked tonight, Brennan is great too.
Blake just had a great game plan last week Against* Fresno. This is a young team team will have all the ups and downs.
Next year if we survive the portal we are going to win the conference

Re: How many years left of paying BA to coach?
This although it’s never gonna happen.
I miss the days when we could actually play fundamentally sound, could actually tackle someone in space, get a team off the field in 3rd and long, not let a QB scramble for 30 yards multiple times a game, have linebackers that were fast enough to get to the edges, have DE that set en edge, have players disciplined enough to make a play on the ball instead of stand there while the ball carrier runs right past them, etc, etc

Re: How many years left of paying BA to coach?
I just don't understand starting Hillstead tonight. Cooper has led the offense to a lot of points the last 3 weeks. He deserved to play again tonight. Not saying Hillstead does not have potential I just think Cooper has played well enough to lead the team the rest of the year.

Agreed. He just makes poor decisions in big situations. Now Hillstead can’t redshirt, Coop should transfer and we lose to San Jose.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑October 21st, 2023, 8:24 pmI just don't understand starting Hillstead tonight. Maybe the Crumbl folks can save us through a bunch of NIL money but not much else will turn this around.

Re: How many years left of paying BA to coach?
I'm going to say this and I expect to get roasted for it but Blake needs to resign and retire. With everything that has happened with his personal life I just don't see any way he can get a team motivated to go and compete at this level anymore. He almost seems like he's not all there mentally as well which I can fully understand and accept. JMO

I just don’t think he can coach in this new college football environment, not sure who can, but we will continue to lose our best players every years because “if we just give it time, he will turn it around”. that just doesn’t fly anymore, he is a great recruiter, but players just don’t want to play for him

While this is true. If I am going to start bit(hing about my tax dollars, even at the state and local level, USU football coach isn't in the top 300 things I think my taxes shouldn't go to.Naked Bull Rider wrote: ↑October 21st, 2023, 8:43 pmHe will 200% suck next year too.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑October 21st, 2023, 8:38 pmI get being really mad at Blake Anderson right now but he will 100% be the coach next year.

Are you really blaming Hillstead. I have no idea if he's better than Legas but if you can't see the issue I don't know what to tell you. The only chance we had of being better was having someone who could run for his life back there like Chucky or Peasley and Legas isn't much better at that. In fact I think Hillstead might have the edge there with pocket presence and seeing things. Doesn't matter though. Fix the O line and either QB would look like a star with these WRs and RBs.

Re: How many years left of paying BA to coach?
In addition to the 2 interceptions three were several turnover worthy throws - some appearing as if Hillstead was targeting SJSU- along with that open throw down the middle that was a miss. Hillstead needs more development time and it wasn’t all on the o-line.hickaggie wrote: ↑October 21st, 2023, 9:22 pmImakeitrain wrote: ↑October 21st, 2023, 9:02 pmWe started your guy and he played horribly.. You don't know any better than I do what happened on that second int. It looked to me like Royals gave up on the route because had he continued he would have been open right where the ball was picked.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑October 21st, 2023, 9:34 pmIn addition to the 2 interceptions three were several turnover worthy throws - some appearing as if Hillstead was targeting SJSU- along with that open throw down the middle that was a miss. Maybe Hillstead threw the wrong route, but at absolute best there's only a 50% chance that's on Hillstead, until we hear otherwise.
And it may not have been all on the o-line, but it was at least 90% on the o-line. They were atrocious. Actually, atrocious is way too soft of a word for how they played. That was the worst o-line play I've seen from Utah State in a generation.

Legas was pretty in-sync with Royals. It was not a good night for Mccae. I think he will one day be good. He wasn’t good tonight. I did not put all of the blame on him. But he did not do what he needed to.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑October 21st, 2023, 9:37 pmYou don't know any better than I do what happened on that second int. Re: How many years left of paying BA to coach?
He’s not a great recruiter tho. Look at how many guys he had drafted at Arkansas State, 0. how many have been drafted in his time here? Matt Wells was a really great recruiter and bad motivator/coach. Blake Anderson is the complete opposite.pcaggie wrote: ↑October 21st, 2023, 8:40 pmI just don’t think he can coach in this new college football environment, not sure who can, but we will continue to lose our best players every years because “if we just give it time, he will turn it around”. that just doesn’t fly anymore, he is a great recruiter, but players just don’t want to play for him

Blake Anderson is losing the locker room. Several players are upset with his handling of Cooper Legas and much of the team finds it distasteful that he has continuously called Legas out specifically and by name to the media.
