2024 QB

Post by donlarson8 » March 3rd, 2023, 8:48 am

I’m starting to get nervous about this position. We usually have a QB commit by this point and we’ve been offering a lot of ‘24 QBs it seems. Carson Su’eSu’e (both our most recent offer, as well as one of our first) is a mission kid I’m pretty sure so even if we can get him it doesn’t really fill that gap. Anyone have insight?

Davenport is a Sophomore (or even RS Freshman) for the coming season. We just signed Hillstead from Skyridge also, and he'll be a freshman this season.

McCae Hillstead is even already on campus. We offered eight QBs in about a two-week period. I know P5s are already rolling in commitments BUT It's still a little early to pick up commitments for us. I've compiled a short list below to ease your fears.

McCae Hillstead - Committed May 5th, 2022
Bishop Davenport - Committed June 25th, 2021
Chase Tuatagaloa - Committed March 18th, 2021
Josh Calvin - Committed June 18th, 2018
Cooper Legas - Committed February 4th, 2019 (the Monday prior to signing day)
Andy Peasley - Committed June June 17th, 2017
Henry Colombi - Committed June 24th, 2016
Jordan Love - Committed June 15th 2015

The reason you see so many June commitments is that the coaching staff specifically brings in their primary target at QB to attend summer camp. Once the kid gets on campus, rarely do they say no.

Ok, that does make me feel better. Maybe it was that batch of offers that we sent out that make me feel like we were getting desperate. Do you have a feel for who our top target is?

Bishop Davenport will be a redshirt freshman this upcoming season.

I've never seen that name before today, and now twice in this context?

Would love to have more Granger boys on the team! Carson was impressive to watch last year. Completely changes his team as I watched them play a couple of games without him early last year.

It’s pronounced more like sue-e, sue-e. Would fit in well at the U of Arkansas
