Utah Golf Courses
I don't play a lot of golf, but I have played some incredibly scenic golf courses in Utah. I say the Wasatch State Park course in Midway in autumn when the leaves are changing is the most scenic. There are some in St. George that are incredible, as well (Dixie Red Hills, Sand Hollow).

Park City and Entrada At Snow Canyon Country Club are my two favs, that one in Logan next to the River is a pretty difficult course as I recall.

Newish golfer here, but I'm tossing out a vote for Birch Creek.

Re: Utah Golf Courses
Funny you mention Hobble Creek, I used to live right at the mouth of HCC and never golfed there once LOL, not sure why just never did. Then again I'm not much of a pedestrian golfer, just something I do on vacay.

Re: Utah Golf Courses
Apologies for a semi threadjack here. Would there be any interest in a USUFans golf day? Like I said I'm new, and pretty awful, but I'm happy to play a scramble.
Back on topic, I'm a Cache Valley native that moved to the Midwest for a while, and recently moved back to Logan. The views at Birch Creek remind me why I love it here so much. Can't wait for a couple of weeks and those leaves to change color.

Glenwild is the best course in Utah, but as far as views go, Wasatch, Sand Hollow, Tuhaye and the back 9 at Gladstan have the best ones.

Re: Utah Golf Courses
For scenery, that haven't been mentioned:
Mt Ogden (I actually love this course, but I know people hate it.)
Wolf Creek in Eden (not Mesquite.) I haven't been up this year, but last year they had some serious watering issues and it was super dry. But the scenery is awesome on the front 9.
Favorite course: Hubbard GC.

Re: Utah Golf Courses
I played Hubbard several times when I worked at HAFB. The challenge was keeping your composure when an F-16 was taking off in the middle of your back swing. It is a great course.Empire of Dirt wrote: ↑September 27th, 2022, 7:27 amFor scenery, that haven't been mentioned:

Re: Utah Golf Courses
It really is kind of a hidden jewel. I don't love the front 9, but the back 9 is a lot of fun. Utah County has some pretty good public courses. Much better than Salt Lake County.stewusu98 wrote: ↑September 27th, 2022, 6:11 amI love gladstan….Intermeddler wrote: ↑September 26th, 2022, 8:48 pmBountiful Ridge

A friend of mine worked at Tuhaye and got me on. Great course. I have not played Glenwild but most of the people that I know that have played both prefer Glenwild. I also think Victory Ranch is better, but that might be it in Northern Utah. The new course in St George, Black Desert, looks great and might challenge for a top spot on my list.
I may make a trip to see @Roy McAvoy and play it this fall

Played Birch creek for the first time Saturday before the game. Unbelievable course! Love it! Scenic views. Not a boring hole on the course. Those greens are brutally hard to read though

Re: Utah Golf Courses
Growing up in the Brigham City area during the mid 90's Eagle Mountain would have Monday morning special for kids. It was $1.50 for 9 holes, had a lot of good times golfing there with friends.
I don't golf very often maybe twice a year, but I do love to play. I really like the view of the Bountiful Ridge course. I have never golfed Logan River, but would like to. I imagine I will need at least 20 extra balls for that course.

Re: Utah Golf Courses
Sounds like the 9 hole Bear Lake course may be expanding to 18 holes within three years, plus adding a 6 hole par 3 course. It may become more of a destination for golfers. Beautiful views!

Re: Utah Golf Courses
The bear lake course is underrated. Sometimes its in a little rough shape, but it has a great layout.

Re: Utah Golf Courses
They're actually some of the easiest greens out there to read. You just have to know everything breaks down the valley, to approximately where Sky View high is. Even when it looks straight--Nope. It's breaking to Sky View. If you're putting down to Sky view, it's going to be fast. If you're putting up away from Sky View, it's slower. Play it again with that perspective and it's way easier.AggiePT wrote: ↑September 27th, 2022, 11:40 amPlayed Birch creek for the first time Saturday before the game. Unbelievable course! Love it! Interesting. Played birchceeek 40 years ago while in school. Would not have thought it was on this list. Glad to see it has grown up and looks so nice.

You just have to putt around the goose droppings and deer hoof indentations on the greens.

Re: Utah Golf Courses
I played a course in Star Valley years ago. There was a red fox on one of the holes that would run out of the trees and steal your ball after you drive it down the fairway. That fox must have hundreds of golf balls stashed somewhere.
I remember playing the course in Wendover and diving overa herd of antelope from one tee box because we could not get them to move.
