Lose the Vegas bowl?

UNLV has no path to the Vegas bowl, unless I wasn't paying attention and they have created a new one that's affiliated with the MWC again.

Kyle Mayberry’s younger brother Duece (also a CB) is leaving Kansas and in the portal. If we are still looking for a CB to fill Lampkin’s vacancy perhaps he may be interested as long as Kyle had a good experience here. I believe Duece was the higher rated if the two and is 6’ tall.

Nice take Dirt... pretty close to the (non) reason he foolishly left over. If he was looking for more exposure it's unlikely he will get there in Las Vegas this fall. Like NOA, he paid attention to someone who wasn't part of the game, just part of the firmly.

When the topic of a really bad reason to leave initially came up it sure sounded like it was something other than just a case of bad advice. But it does not appear that anything else on the topic is going to be forth coming. But I'll admit I was quite curious given how the original post was worded.

I appreciate the NFL has a deep scouting system and undiscovered talent is rare these days. Seems to me he would have had a very good shot at being scouted more than once by NFL scouts as they evaluated the Mountain West and Bowl Victorious UTAH STATE AGGIES Football team this fall.

Appears he didn't' attract any P 5 interest, so we can kick that thought to the curb.

If you're good enough, the NFL will find you regardless of where you play your college ball. That's why a lot of these moves to the portal surprise me.

I get the allure of a P5, especially with NIL and everything, but if anything, for a good player who may develop into an NFL guy but isn't quite there yet (like a high 3* kind of guy), starting at Utah State for 3+ years. will probably give them a lot more opportunity to grow and gain exposure than signing with a P5 program and riding the pine for 2-3 years while hoping you don't just get recruited over.

For example, Xavier Williams will have greater opportunity to up his NFL chances at Utah State than he did at Alabama.

So this old coach thought being a starter on an 11-win championship team that finished the season ranked 24th in the land was beneath Cam and his abilities?

I can't imagine ending up on a team in the same conference that finished dead last and has not won more than 5 games in a year since 2013 was the target team.

You're right, "betting on himself" and listening to the advice of someone who doesn't sound like he had much to do with where Cam was as a college player may have been even more dumb than all the reasons we guessed.

WOW.. this is just crazy. If this was a current high school coach. This is the kind of thing that leads to school not trusting your judgment/ not looking at kids in your program. This is the kind of thing that can hurt a ton of borderline kids. And being in Texas this is the kind of thing that will used against you because they have open enrollment down there.
