Can we please not with the blackout?
Can we please not ever again with blackouts? Please and thank you, AD.

What black uniforms do we even have? I hope we didn’t spring for new ones, and the ones from the Jalen Moore days would probably look like an anachronism in 2021.
I’m beating a dead horse, but we need to up the uniform game at USU.

The blackout is dumb. It’s not one of our colors and looks horrible with Navy Blue. Just have a whiteout if you feel it’s necessary to do this

What games have we won in black?
Probably gonna be these bad boys from 2016? Why are recycling 5 year old cursed uniforms for a lame promotion?
Get a better apparel deal, Hartwell. Please!

Amen. Whiteout if it must happen, but this really only works for football. The stormtrooper look for a whiteout for football is a good one, and it’s a school color.
Hell, I’d even be okay with a pewter-out. That’s at least a tertiary school color.

I don't like the black uniforms, but if the players like it then I'm fine with it. I just want them to win against St. Mary's.

You all can get on board or gtfo. You’re borderline racist if you disagree. The blackout shirt looks cool anyway.
Truthfully though, when I saw the blackout shirts for the Wyoming game, I knew it was over. The last football win I’ve seen in person was 4 years ago, so the fact that I was there was also a bad omen. I will be at the game Thursday. No doubt we lose, but I still like the shirt.

Is that true? I swear I saw a stat stating we have never won a blackout game in football OR hoops. It was something like 0-9.

I have to believe they will be the ones from 2016. I'm not huge on the blackout either but at least those unis are made of material from this century and the font is actually our current athletic font....it's baby steps - but I'll take the little things at this point. Anything is better than sporting the stretched out white retro unis with bacon neck trim. Those things make me itch just looking at them.

I’m not sure why we are so on the uniform struggle bus when no one else seems to be. Nike seems to treat it’s non-Gonzaga and non-BYU G5 schools like redheaded stepchildren. We should get full new kits every year (or at least every other year) in both sports whether or not the uniform design is changing. If the current deal makes that cost prohibitive for USU, it’s not a deal that should have been entered. Period.
I mean, has anyone else seen another D1 school with uniforms that look older and rougher (or even as old and rough) as ours? I have not.
They should wear the blacks for the first half tonight just to test out if they are cursed or not. Then change at halftime if things are looking rough. Then we’ll know if they are safe to use for St. Mary’s.

Our hoops jerseys do look very 'DI'-ish. The women's bball ones look a lot better than the men's.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 29th, 2021, 10:02 amThey do look itchy, don’t they? Man, I look at that roster and can't help but feel like that team had more overall talent than what we have now. I disagree. I like Jalen Moore, but I think he’s probably the most overrated Aggie great. Chris Smith was a nice player. I would take a “Big 3” of Bean, Horvath, and Miller over a “Big 3” of Moore, Smith, and Taylor.
Both Bean and Horvath are more impactful players than anyone on that roster.
I will admit that I would have loved to see Chris Smith on this team (or any of the last three teams).

Jalen Moore legit made an NBA roster (the Bucks) but then had to withdraw himself due to some mental health things. Chris Smith was very versatile and shot 45% from 3 that year.
Shane Rector was very athletic and was originally a highly rated recruit.
Lew Evans, Julion Pearre, and Darius Perkins each had some things they could do as well. That team's two worst losses all season were on the road to #166 Wyoming (Kenpom ranking) and on the road to #124 Nevada. We've already had a much worse loss this season than any of those. I still ultimately think that team overall was more talented.

Jalen Moore got a two-way with the Bucks, right? That’s kinda an NBA roster spot. Chris Smith was a good player. Rector played for Mizzou, IIRC, but never really lived up to the hype here.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑November 29th, 2021, 1:59 pmJalen Moore legit made an NBA roster (the Bucks) but then had to withdraw himself due to some mental health things. You’ve lost me on the other guys. I don’t have good memories of any of those guys.
Top to bottom, that may be a deeper team, but I’d take our current starting 5 over that starting 5, although I’d totally swap out Chris Smith for RJ. I’d honestly start Bean over Jalen Moore, but I’d love Moore on our team too. Would take Quin Taylor for more bench depth.
We have an NCAA tourney starting 5 right now, but the bench may be the worst it has ever been in my fandom. Needs to be some major spring cleaning there this offseason, and really should have been more this offseason. We need to fully embrace the portal this offseason.
The quality of player we can get from the portal is just better than we can get from high school. Odom took some big swings on elite high school players and whiffed a bit this cycle. Just hit the portal.

Re: I see we’ve decided to concede the game against St. Mary’s
Ashworth, Dorius, and Hamoda have all proven that they have skill and could absolutely be key players moving forward. We've heard good things about Thelissen, and Bairstow is perennially about to break into the rotation. Also, Zapala may not be amazing yet, but I'd take him over most of our previous big men, with the exception of Bendall, Matheus, and Wilkinson (I see Tai Wesley more as a 4). Shulga has also had flashes of potential.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 29th, 2021, 3:54 pmWe have an NCAA tourney starting 5 right now, but the bench may be the worst it has ever been in my fandom. Re: I see we’ve decided to concede the game against St. Mary’s
Honestly, with the emergency of the transfer portal, I don't know how useful it is to recruit a lot of high school guys. If they develop, often they end up in the transfer portal out of your program. If they don't, they are just roster dead weight. The portal gives you an opportunity to see how a kid develops at the collegiate level.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑November 29th, 2021, 4:42 pmAshworth, Dorius, and Hamoda have all proven that they have skill and could absolutely be key players moving forward.
