68 - 57 Red Raiders (although I did pick the Aggies to advance on my bracket - hedging my bets)

Will the Aggies score more than 25 by halftime? I have a sick feeling about a 6 minute scoring drought and a team that can't make a lot of baskets. We come out scared and tight - like every other year.

Texas Tech is a really good team from what may have been the best basketball conference in the country this year, the Big 12. The good news is, we match up with them a really good and we have a good chance to win this one. But we'll have to hit on all cylinders-- none of this 28% from beyond the arc shooting. If that happens again we'll lose.

Brock Miller makes fools of all the doubters by going 9-11 from 3. It opens up the inside for Queta to dominate the offensive boards, leading to tons of second chances. Marco feels right at home in the Big Dance and drops 18 pts w/ 4 3s. We are the talk of the night, and all the analysts start analyzing a potential NCAA Tourney rematch against Ohio St in the Sweet 16.

This game all comes down to Marco. In my opinion, he has been the most inconsistent player on offense this season. We know what we are going to get from the rest of the supporting cast for the most part. If he can get efficiently get to the rim like he did for that stretch in the middle of the season, we will have a chance to beat anyone.

I am the ultimate Debbie Downer, and my predictions are usually correct. But, for some reason, I have a strong gut feeling we take this one.

I think the key is our 3-point shooting. If we can hit > 35% we can win the game. If we hit < 25% we are toast. We can’t depend on missing our shots and getting offensive rebounds. Let’s hit a decent percentage of our three-pointers, let Queta and Bean do their thing down low, have Anthony drive, dish, defend and rebound but not shoot 3-pointers, have Worster not turn the ball over inordinately and also get some bench production. Easy peasy!
