We were tired.

Post by SLB » March 13th, 2021, 6:16 pm

MWC and TV screw us over with midnight basketball. You can't have midnight basketball and a championship game hours later in the future. The offense and defense looked like they were barely awake, and we showed real toughness to keep it a game. The effort and toughness of this team earned a NCAA tournament bid.

Proud of how the team fought and think they'll be in one of the play in games. I know you are young, but this isn't little league with participation trophies. If we don't get in the tournament we will only have ourselves to blame with the losses we had this year.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the 10:30 p.m. tip off the night before. They should try to have the final in the evening.

Agree. Our shots were falling short...not all but more than usual. That is a sign of a tired team. Still, with a little over 3 minutes left, we were only 6 down and had the ball. If Sam Merrill were still with us....we win.

Coach shorted the rotation and our players played heavy minutes. Doesn’t speak well for the talent coming back.

No. Nor should he. He's proven that he can play at the next level. Now he needs to get paid. Hard enough to survive as it is. Go get it!

Queta is gone after he picks up a few tournament wins next week. He has been amazing to watch the last 3 years. When we destroyed tournament bound St Mary's in Vegas a few years ago and watching how dominant he was, I knew we had something special and he has not disappointed.

Smith goes to Minnesota if they offer. Or Iowa State if they do.

I don’t think it says anything about the talent coming back. The guys on the bench will develop and get better. A year on the bench with this team has taught them a lot. We will see Liam and Zapala and some other guys we don’t expect. The nature of the college game is that guys move on and others develop.

Smith potentially leaving and Queta probably leaving are completely unrelated events. If Queta knew Smith was staying it would not make one wit of difference if the NBA came calling. If Smith knew Queta was staying it would not make one wit of difference if the Big 10 came calling.

Due to covid protocol the guys only got 5 hours of sleep before having to get up to test. The TV schedule was such BS.

I don’t understand why they couldn’t have the testing done after their game against CSU. It was Sunday at that point so testing would have been done and wouldn’t have to get up in morning for testing

Because that would've made too much sense and allowed our guys to get more sleep.

Ouch, and thanks for sharing this. That's a lot of high-level basketball in such a short time to begin with. I'm floored the league didn't make some time allowance on testing based off of the schedules.

I'm not. It's the Mountain West.
