Are you talking about when he went 9/19 vs sdsu? Scored 15 when we needed it vs unlv? 34 in two games vs csu? Every game counts. Everybody but queta sucked tonight.

Hard to judge players after having so much time off. We'll get the next one.

Not having Rollie hurts. To be honest I thought we should have played Bairstow more tonight. He was aggressive and a scoring threat, which we were lacking other than Queta and Marco.

Re: Hate to say it
You have to give him his two good games he had against San Diego State this year, which you could consider "when it counted"
Last year, it's easy to forget that besides bad games that were crucial, he had some bad games at home which were forgotten about cause of Sam carrying us and the competition being weak.

Miller had zero chance to get in rhythm thanks to foul trouble. He’s a total rhythm shooter.

Lame comment. He wasn’t the only one that was dreadful. If anyone could have hit a three down the stretch we would have had a chance.

Re: Hate to say it
He had some good looks and just did not knock them down. The key stat for me in the game is 3/16 from 3. Most of them were wide open looks. Another thing that affected getting more wide open 3's was Boise very rarely doubling Queta. Queta ate them up, but they were letting Queta get his, but did not allow anyone else to go off for a big night.

Re: Hate to say it
Too caught up in the game to remember , but I wouldn’t have said we had mostly wide open 3’s. Seemed with no doubles, they were not that wide open.

I thought Alphonzo played pretty good especially with such limited action. I think Alphonzo needs to see more time in the next game.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑February 17th, 2021, 9:07 pmAre you talking about when he went 9/19 vs sdsu? Re: Hate to say it
I agree Rollie would have helped. But I felt like for every good thing Bairstow did, he outdid himself with mistakes. The rebound that he had stolen out of his hands felt like a real turning point to me. Was a rough game all around.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑February 17th, 2021, 9:10 pmNot having Rollie hurts. Re: Hate to say it
It appeared that BSU determined that their defensive strategy was to guard the 3-point line at all costs - figuring that Queta alone was not going to win the game. It is not a coincidence that Queta scored a career high while the 3-point shots weren't falling. The USU problem seemed to be that they didn't go to Queta enough to force BSU into re-considering.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑February 17th, 2021, 9:46 pmAnother thing that affected getting more wide open 3's was Boise very rarely doubling Queta. It also hurt that Queta got a foul 14 seconds in.
Against the same strategy tomorrow night (if BSU sticks with it), look for Queta to get the BSU bigs in foul trouble which will force the double team.

Re: Hate to say it
He certainly didn't have his 3 point shot last night. It happens. Boise State is a good team and we were playing on the road after two weeks off. Hopefully as we speak the team is preparing to get revenge tomorrow night. I expect a much more in rhythm and prepared Aggie team in game 2. I don't mean to downplay the loss, but expecting a sweep on the road against Boise was always a tough ask.

Re: Hate to say it
I just saw the second half, but what I saw was BS swarming around Miller everytime he got the ball. He had very few chances to put up a shot. I could be wrong, because I didn't see the first half, but it looked like Boise was content for Queta to get 2 or 3 more dunks than for Miller to put in 5 or 6 three's. That might be the right strategy for them. I honestly can't remember a time that Miller got the ball where he had any chance to put up a shot.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Right? I mean he’s just been sitting at home doing nothing for 3 weeks. I say we cut him!!

Yeah people forget how many injuries occur in practice. Robert Turbin missed an entire Aggie season for a non game injury.JonnyCienPesos wrote: ↑February 18th, 2021, 5:36 pmRight? I mean he’s just been sitting at home doing nothing for 3 weeks. I say we cut him!!

Re: Hate to say it
Well, aren't you nice. My point was that much of what I saw was Miller being double teamed really hard in most of his second half possessions, making it near impossible to get a clean shot away. That left Queta with just one on him, and he had a hay day.Blitz79 wrote: ↑February 18th, 2021, 8:15 pmSo you are saying we should give him a break because they guarded him? Miller has had a pretty good year. You Miller naysayers from the last two years look for anything you can complain about in his game. The numbers, however, don't prove your Miller bashing.

You are cherry picking just one game. I am talking about the whole season. This year has been better than last for Miller.CanofShiz wrote: ↑February 19th, 2021, 6:36 pmOur defensive specialist was off.mcaggie1 wrote: ↑February 19th, 2021, 11:34 amWell, aren't you nice. Re: Hate to say it
I honestly believe not playing for so long had a pretty big impact. We looked gassed at times and we struggled to find any rhythm other than Queta. Miller is a guy that was in a good rhythm prior and I think this even hurt him more.. obviously
