Wyoming Beat Nevada Both Times
WYO ended up beating NEV both games this week. Great job by WYO, i thought NEV was going to contend for the top ~4 in the conference. Be tough for them to do that now. WYO is doing a great job this year. Their new coach has got them on the upswing.

Yeah I don't see the point in having more than 4 teams at the tournament this year. Nevada no longer has an argument. In a year when the tournament could get cancelled anyway and where there will be barely any fans or possibly no fans, let's just have the top 4 and move on. We can have a big 11 team tourney next year again.

It's pretty incredible to me how many great coaches are in the Mountain West right now. Jeff Linder was an excellent hire by Wyoming, I agree that I think he's got them on the upswing.

True although a few traditionally great programs have fallen off; UNLV and New Mexico.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑January 24th, 2021, 8:02 pmThe league overall seems to be moving in the right direction.

I'm a huge fan of TJ O. at UNLV, but he's been a little bit underwhelming there so far. I still think he turns that program around in time though.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑January 24th, 2021, 8:34 pmTrue although a few traditionally great programs have fallen off; UNLV and New Mexico.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑January 24th, 2021, 8:02 pmThe league overall seems to be moving in the right direction.

Yeah I feel we're always going to be a one maybe two bid league with a bad UNLV and New Mexico team. If we're good along with UNLV, New Mexico, and San Diego State then you're looking about three or four bid league. UNLV and New Mexico traditionally are known commodities in college basketball especially UNLV. Which is why when those two teams are good it elevates the profile of the conference. Both have had a lousy run for a while now.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑January 24th, 2021, 8:34 pmTrue although a few traditionally great programs have fallen off; UNLV and New Mexico.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑January 24th, 2021, 8:02 pmThe league overall seems to be moving in the right direction.

Re: Wyoming Beat Nevada Both Times
I watched a good portion of that WYO-Nevada game on Sunday. Wyoming had a center that just became eligible - Ike. He is just a freshman and was playing in his second game. He is going to be a good player for them. He had a very smooth 8-foot jump shot and looked quite athletic. Nevada also had a freshman guard - Williams - that was a big-time scorer for them. Williams ended up with 28 and Ike had 18. They have a good foundation of two solid freshman to start their re-build. Wyoming is trending up.

These late year additions are pretty frustrating. I wonder how the NET and tourney committee will evaluate these additions...probably won't

I get that people still see UNLV as a "known" commodity in college basketball, but their relevance in college basketball is almost as old as BYU's is in football. The early 90's were a long time (and many drugs and casino-bought sports cars) ago.Aggiealum13 wrote: ↑January 25th, 2021, 7:19 amYeah I feel we're always going to be a one maybe two bid league with a bad UNLV and New Mexico team. Re: Wyoming Beat Nevada Both Times
The two freshman, Graham Ike for WY and Daniel Foster for NV, who played for the first time this past weekend were not late additions. Both had been out all season with injuries.
Ike will be a huge difference maker for WY going forward..He is big and really talented.
Foster will likely slot in as the 1st guard off the bench for NV. I wish we had him all season..He was considered to be the best of the incoming Pack freshmen but got injured right before the first game..
