He will not be found in the transfer portal because he is exploring entering the NFL Draft.

I imagine he wanted to find out where he stands and what NFL scouts really think of him. I can't blame anyone for leaving early anymore for guaranteed money.

If he can get drafted, it makes 0 sense to comeback. If it's about trying to make it onto a practice squad.....
It's the difference between Dax Raymond and Darwin Thompson a few years ago. Darwin's career is teetering right now, but at least he made a little money. Dax is trying to make practice squads.

Agreed. Strike while the iron is hot or the interest is there as long as there is guaranteed money. Darwin can probably still make a living the way Kerwynn did where he went from practice squad to practice squad for five or six years.

Absolutely. Have loved seeing him return kicks, but if they tell him he'll be drafted, he has got to go.

I think he should go. Right now some NFL guy that thinks he's smarter than he is, sees Scarver and thinks they can turn him into a receiver (I'm a Bears fan, our GM does it every year). They'll assume it was the staff not knowing how to coach him up, he had all that talent. If he stays, he ends up with a staff that is known for producing WR talent, if he can't get it done with the new staff, maybe he can't get it done. Being a specialist exclusively without any other value adds can be a tough row to hoe in the NFL.

In the NFL, how many kickoffs do you see get returned? The role of a KO returner isn't nearly as valuable as it once was.

Scarver has talent. But if he wants to get drafted and make a team, he needs to improve his receiving skills. If he can be a returner and be a serviceable receiver he could get drafted and make a team.

Right now I just don't see it.

In my opinion, there's no chance that he would be drafted. Returns rarely happen on kickoffs it seems nowadays and he isn't a punt returner...

I agree. He's got to have an additional skill. He really hasn't done anything else on any special team so he'd have to show as a free agent that he could be an all around special teams guy. If he had the hands and lateral quickness he would have been returning punts in college. You see free agents here and there like Dallin Leavitt who are too valuable as a special teamer to cut. I don't see that with Scarver. He has great speed and has smooth transitions in vertical cuts so he could add a dimension to an offense as the last receiver and gadget guy if he had the hands and instincts.

He should come back and excel in what could be a very good offense. Draw more attention to himself by becoming a better route runner and break the NCAA kick return record.

I can’t see him in the NFL. Kickoffs are rarely returned and he’s not an NFL caliber receiver

Think JoJo Natson. Scarver might get a role as a return specialist as an UDFA, but it won’t get him drafted I don’t think. Natson has been a punt returner with like 4 teams since 2017, but he is still in the NFL.

The problem is Scarver's skill set is not really suited to punt returning. Jojo's moves had moves. He was/is lightning quick and can make people miss in tight spaces. Scarver is great at setting up blocks and has great vision and anticipation with good straight line speed. He is also good at making vertical changes of direction without losing speed. The problem is he's not a quick twitch elusive guy in tight spaces and he needs 10-15 yards to get up to speed which he will never be afforded in the NFL as a punt returner. This is not even considering the issues with his hands which so far have proven he isn't even a MWC level WR, let alone a NFL one.

No team, even a NFL team can "afford" a rooster spot for a KO return specialist only. He needs to become valuable as a receiver or running back. From a very long distance, I think he sulks a bit when things don't go right. Recall the wide open dropped pass against AF two years ago.

Savon has his limitations but both me and my son always get on our feet when he begins to take one out of the end zone.
He’s unique and a ton of fun to watch.

I tried finding the interview from yesterday, does anyone know where it is at? I looked on the app under the USU as well as shows under Hans/Scotty but could not find it.
