Last year’s roster I linked there still had him at 225 lbs.aggies22 wrote: ↑January 9th, 2021, 6:50 pmI don't think he's 210 anymore.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑January 9th, 2021, 6:46 pmHeard a rumor this kid is also coming to usu. With all of these LB’s coming in, I have to seriously question that we’ll be running a 4-2-5 next season.

Doesn’t hurt to add another impact guy. My goodness I’m liking the direction we are headed thus far.

Looks like we lost a local kid. Can’t blame the staff if the new guys are better.

He’s a walk-on with an academic scholarship. If he’d rather walk on at CSU than Usu than more power to him.GeorgiaAggie wrote: ↑January 9th, 2021, 9:27 pmLooks like we lost a local kid. Can’t blame the staff if the new guys are better.

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
Hope we get this guy. Here’s an article about him from prior to 2019 season. Mentions him being 235lbs then and used as a hybrid DE / LB. Talks about his strengths and usage.aggies22 wrote:Maybe he plays ILB and Vongphachahn drops to DE?Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑January 9th, 2021, 6:53 pmLast year’s roster I linked there still had him at 225 lbs.aggies22 wrote: ↑January 9th, 2021, 6:50 pmI don't think he's 210 anymore.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑January 9th, 2021, 6:46 pmHeard a rumor this kid is also coming to usu. Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
Seems like LB might be a really strength for us next year. We might want to have more of them on the field, not less. A 3-4 defense would seem to be making better use of them.

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
We’ve heard the defensive system doesn’t call for many huge and heavy DLinemen. Sounds like more need speed and athleticism.

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
Joyner is interesting. Really highly regarded in high school. Had some major injuries his first couple years at Miami.
Miami had awful linebacker play this year and he couldn’t crack the field so if he’s coming here as a LB I’ll be surprised. I think he’d be a good rush end if he can get his weight to 245 but he’s not good in space. He might be better just by dropping down a level but I expect he’ll play DE here if he comes
Unless Banda does something he’s never seen or done before, we’re running a 4 man front with a 1 and 3 tech for DTs and 2 rush ends in the 245-265 pound range so if you see us pursuing a bunch of long linebackers I imagine some of them will play DE.
As a DE I’d be excited about Joyner. As a linebacker, skeptical.

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
I've got a hunch we're about to land a bigtime OL transfer that will be an immediate starter.

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
Given that fans of basically every P5 team is saying that their team should go after him, I would be surprised to see him come to us. Obviously want it, but I would be willing to bet he doesn't.

Would assume he ends up at Utah or BYU but we could use him for sure.

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
I'm pretty sure that Ty was committed to utah before he flipped to Washington. utah is where WRs go to have their careers die and learn how to run block and byu would suck because it's byu. We have contacted him by the way.

Keep an eye on Quazzel White a 3* guard from TCU. I've been talking to him and I get the impression things are getting interesting.

Glad to see him at least go to the conference rather than Provo.
Fresno’s starting qb is a Washington transfer as well, probably played into the decision.
