Nice of them to do it more than two days before the start of the season, at least.

Not surprised by this at all. What a kick in the pants to likely lose two young oline guys to the pac12

Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
I'm confused
We had a sub-par offensive line, as a unit, last season that struggled to provide pass protection and run blocking. And yet, two members of that offensive line have decided to leave and within a day of entering the transfer portal have offers from PAC 12 and Big 10 schools? It is starting to look like the individual offensive linemen weren't the problem, but rather the coaching they got and the schemes that they were put in. Is this correct?
And I do realize that Bloomfield was not a starter or regular contributor of that poor line last year.

Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
I think we had a lot of talent on the OL. I can't speak to the coaching, but I think this past couple of years the biggest problem was in the weight room. Probably GA 2.0's original sin

I continue to be shocked that Gary 2.0 didn't bring back anything that made Gary 1.0 successful.

Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
I’m not sure why these guys want to leave. I’d think playing OL in BA’s scheme would be a lot of fun. Seeing the transfers and recruits we are bringing in, the rebuild may be shorter than we think. Stick around and be an almost certain starter in an aggressive offense with a coach that will run through brick walls with you.

Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
I'll wait to see how these guys fit in at their new school. I think a lot of our starters could go to a P5 and add depth to a position. Now, if these OL's become starters at a P5 then I'll be impressed.

Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
A question with Junior colleges playing in spring will there be a lot of recruitable players available in the spring after the season ends?

Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
I would imagine so? I think that's why there aren't many JuCo guys getting picked up now, there just isn't much film on many of them. That and the transfer portal.AGGIEFIGHT wrote: ↑January 13th, 2021, 12:39 pmA question with Junior colleges playing in spring will there be a lot of recruitable players available in the spring after the season ends?

Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
It is easy to understand why a kid would want to go to a school like Minnesota . They have a near new $288 million dollar stadium, you are playing at a P-5 school rich in tradition, and with a very supportive fan base , with a strong alum baseAGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑January 13th, 2021, 9:03 amI’m not sure why these guys want to leave. Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
The coach up there seems to be like Craig Smith - aggressive and inspiring - and their scheme seems pretty fun too. I'm not sure what caused them to crap the field in 2020, but 2019 was pretty fun football.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑January 13th, 2021, 9:03 amI’m not sure why these guys want to leave. about the only other thing I can say about signing with UofMN is -better bring your long johns and heavy coat, because it's damn cold up there. I'd take Logan with inversion any day and twice on Sunday over -25 and 20mph wind outta the north.
Do you have any gopher fans in the area down there? I work 10 miles from the MN border, so I work with some. They're rabid - but a polite version of rabid... Reminds me of the sign off line of a favorite comedian Tim Bedore "coming at you from Minneapolis, where the introverts stare are their own shoes, and the extroverts stare at your shoes"

I live in the northwest metro of Minneapolis. We came house hunting here right at the tail end of the polar vortex two years ago. It was brutal house hunting in this fun weather. but it was "only" -15 and 20 mph breeze.AGinNEIowa wrote: ↑January 14th, 2021, 7:53 pmThe coach up there seems to be like Craig Smith - aggressive and inspiring - and their scheme seems pretty fun too. This is the first time I've heard the sign off line. It is accurate

He should watch these and learn how to talk Minnesotan. I don't know if any of you can appreciate this type of dry humor, but I get a kick out of these:

There are a lot of good lessons here. Things such as knowing the proper angle to orient your bodies as you are talking to someone, the value of a "hot dish", and many more.
