Re: Players Sticking Around
Let me clear the air here. Anyone is welcome to go back and read my original posts. I have NEVER disparaged Jordan or his family directly or vailed in any way on those original posts (nor was it ever my intention to do so). The genesis of all this goes back to last year when I talked about how badly our receiver group let down the greatest QB this school has ever seen (just ask the NFL scouts). Tania took offense to that saying how hard her son tries and none of it's his fault. Fine, no problem.Cuchelain wrote: ↑December 14th, 2020, 1:02 pmCandidly I really haven't followed this situation until now. But in reading this thread it seems really cringy and awful to have a poster who makes a point of going after a specific player with the sole apparent intention of aggravating his mother who is a frequent and respected poster on this board. For this reason I propose the following:
Mods, I suggest that OCA be warned that all of his future posts must omit any mention of one particular player and one particular poster on this board. Sort of a "keep my name out of your mouth" kind of thing. This will allow him to continue posting on the board if he is indeed an aggie fan and not merely a troll. However, continued insistence on directing unwanted commentary at this one specific player and this one specific poster will show that his intention is not to comment on Aggie athletics but to grind an axe in a very weird and inappropriate way.
Just a suggestion.
However, from that point on, whenever I'd post or just comment on the receivers or the offense (or anything else football related), she would come at me HARD like I had run over her cat. When she did, I would fire back with actual stats and performance metrics which would piss her off even more. Naturally, a few trolls on here realized the entertainment value of our back and forth and would rille her up ("Tania you're the best thing that's ever happened to us," "Jordan is the greatest Aggie of all time," how dare he speak ill of our greatest ambassador," bla, bla, bla). And it's spun out of control.
Those of you who keep trolling us can kiss my butt. I'm not posting or commenting about the offense anymore (unless Jordan switched to defense). Tania, despite our back and forth I respect you as a parent and will continue to root for Jordan or any other player who dawns Aggie blue.

Re: Players Sticking Around
You wanted Scarver to return punts. A fair opinion considering how good of a kick returner Scarver is. People can debate whether he would have been as good returning punts, but that was hardly some outlandish take that you should have been attacked for like you were.

Re: Players Sticking Around
Entering the portal allows coaches of other schools to talk to the players. It’s usually done in the off-season. It doesn’t actually require the player to transfer. Student athletes do sometimes decide to return to the school.
At least that is my understanding.

Re: Players Sticking Around
In the past, if you entered the portal, you were gone.
I understand that was the coaching administrations decision, but I also get the impression that most schools take the same stance.
It's near impossible to weigh out how many scholarships you have or don't have if you don't take that approach.

We once had a guy leave cause Brent Guy threw him under the bus for misfielding a kickoff. But then he decided to come back.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 16th, 2020, 1:18 pmEntering the portal allows coaches of other schools to talk to the players. It’s usually done in the off-season. This is true. CSU had a bunch of guys enter the portal during last off-season and many of them remained Rams in the end.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 16th, 2020, 1:18 pmEntering the portal allows coaches of other schools to talk to the players. Re: Players Sticking Around
i believe as long as he didn't enroll in another school he could come back and get his scholarship back without costing us one of our 25 initials. As long as he didn't burn any bridges on the way out it would make sense to bring him back

Was that the guy who midfielded a kick (I think it was SJSU) which would have put us very close to fg range but instead they were able to just run out the clock.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑December 16th, 2020, 3:30 pmWe once had a guy leave cause Brent Guy threw him under the bus for misfielding a kickoff. Re: Players Sticking Around
However, with a coaching change, you'd think they should be allowed back. It's almost like a new program, so I would vote for leniency for any Aggies who want to come back home.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 16th, 2020, 1:18 pmEntering the portal allows coaches of other schools to talk to the players. Now if they drag it on forever just testing the waters, then I think they should be looked at as bridge burners. But the first two weeks of a new staff, I vote that all can be forgiven.

Re: Players Sticking Around
Thompkins would be one heck of a stud in a Blake Anderson offense. Anderson does very well with receivers, I have to imagine that we would get the ball and Thompkins' hands in space and he would be very successful.taniataylor wrote: ↑December 16th, 2020, 1:03 pmYes....just a possibility, nothing for sure just yet...

That is such great news. I have to imagine there are a lot of players on the team that are looking forward to this coming year based on the s******* this last year was.taniataylor wrote: ↑December 16th, 2020, 7:24 pm#16 is just telling people how he feels. Ms. taniataylor--
I'm curious what Jordan's take is so far on the new staff? For some reason, it seems more stable already with the new staff.
Also, what happened to Bodie R.? Seems like the 0-4 start got him demoted, in which he never returned to his OC spot.
Love having you on the board and for another year!!
