He was dreaming about the program on the flight and singing Zippadee Do Da but he's going to find out it is really Belle Isle when he finds out what has happened today

Happens a lot when visibility is low in Cache Valley due to inversion or cloud conditions or ice on the runway, etc, etc. Not out of the ordinary, especially in winter. I imagine its visibility concerns tonight but I'm not up there.

So does this mean that coach Anderson did not have the 8 p.m. meeting with the team tonight? Be really interesting to see how that meeting goes and how the team responds.

Probably got service and realized what has transpired since they took off and requested we land immediately so he can get out of dodge

How would there even be one planned when the team would have been in Fort Collins?aggies22 wrote:That meeting was cancelled.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑December 11th, 2020, 8:52 pmSo does this mean that coach Anderson did not have the 8 p.m. meeting with the team tonight? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: Plane with new Coach A has a 30 minute layover?
Thanks for the lesson. I got my private license in Florida so we didn't really fly anything with deicing boots or get much of a rundown on the properties of deicing fluid. There were no exemplars close by. I do remember flying some sort of aircraft that squirted alcohol onto the propellers using centrifugal force, which was the genesis of my comments.swordsman1989 wrote: ↑December 11th, 2020, 5:30 pmNope, de-ice/anti-ice fluid is only to clean the aircraft prior to takeoff. It "shears" off the aircraft during the takeoff, and once airborne, an airplane's own ice protection equipment handles any potential in-flight icing. In jet aircraft, the protection is usually in the form of heated engine bleed air directed through ducting in the leading edges of the wings and engine nacelles. Turboprops, and some slower jets, usually utilize what are known as de-ice boots, which are rubber bladders along the leading edge of the wings. When ice begins to accumulate on the leading edge, engine bleed air is used to inflate the bladders and break away the ice.

The meeting was initially planned when it was clear the players had no intention of going to Fort Collins.Cheecho6 wrote: ↑December 11th, 2020, 9:35 pmHow would there even be one planned when the team would have been in Fort Collins?aggies22 wrote:That meeting was cancelled.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑December 11th, 2020, 8:52 pmSo does this mean that coach Anderson did not have the 8 p.m. meeting with the team tonight? Interesting - so seems Coach Anderson had some idea about all this before getting on the plane.

The plane left at 5:15 CST, which would be 4:15 MST. The news broke at 2:57 MST/ 3:57 CST.

Re: Plane with new Coach A has a 30 minute layover?
Weather must have been really bad in Logan. All things being equal, Logan actually has lower weather minimums than Ogden. Ogden's lowest approach, the ILS to runway 3, requires 3/4 miles visibility, and has a DH of 267 feet above the runway touchdown zone. Whereas in Logan you can go down to 1/2 mile of visibility on the ILS to runway 17 with a DH of 212 feet above the runway touchdown zone.bluegrouse wrote: ↑December 11th, 2020, 8:39 pmHappens a lot when visibility is low in Cache Valley due to inversion or cloud conditions or ice on the runway, etc, etc. Not out of the ordinary, especially in winter. Re: Plane with new Coach A has a 30 minute layover?
Good catch, I had forgotten that some propeller aircraft do use the fluid on the props as well. The only turboprops certified for icing conditions that I have flown, the PC-12 and the Beech 1900D, both used electrical heaters for the props.Ahbye wrote: ↑December 11th, 2020, 9:46 pmThanks for the lesson. Re: Plane with new Coach A has a 30 minute layover?
It must have been some other reason to divert to Ogden. Reported weather at Logan was fine then - 6 miles of visibility with a few clouds at 2,500 feet and broken layer at 4,000 feet.

Re: Plane with new Coach A has a 30 minute layover?
Logan airport is (I can't express myself without swearing), any bad weather will cause planes to divert to Ogden. I don't even think they have a dedicated snowplow.
