Just glad Shelley left the team if the rumors are true. I say rotate between Legas and Calvin.

Legolas really kicked butt in the Battle of Pelanor Fields against the giant elephants.

Gary always had Legas ahead of Calvin. But Legas was also his recruit. Who knows now. Either way excited to see what one of these two have to offer.

Re: Who should start at QB vs wyo
Peasley has had a few chances this year and honestly did worse than Shelley so I really hope Legas or Calvin get a chance.
Re: Who should start at QB vs wyo
Peasley will be out. He will not clear COVID protocol until after Thursday. So we won't have a single QB who has played a snap in college. As mentioned before, Legas is the next man up on the depth chart, I believe he will get the start.
Even more reason why it would have been wise to give another QB a chance in yesterday's disaster.

Can someone please keep Calvin and Legas in separate rooms. We keep losing quarterbacks and orangecounty is going to start telling us to put Scarver back there.

He wasn't so bad at helms deep either. I would say he has earned the job.

Yup. It'll be knife work up there in Laramie, Mordor County, on Thursday.oleblu111 wrote: ↑November 15th, 2020, 3:31 pmWho ever it is I feel sorry for him, tough spot to be put in.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑November 15th, 2020, 3:26 pmHe wasn't so bad at helms deep either. Looks like the new HC will be a major player in the transfer/JC quarterback market.

One does not simply walk into Laramie. Its endzones are guarded by more than just safeties. There is an evil there that does not sleep.USU78 wrote: ↑November 15th, 2020, 3:35 pmYup. Re: Who should start at QB vs wyo
It’ll be a great opportunity for Legas or Calvin. Tough spot, but they both have to look at this as an opportunity to become a 4-year starter QB1 (I guess a 4.5 year starter).
It’ll be nice to see someone not named Shelley.

Unless one of them is white hot, not something I would normally suggest, but seeing how it is a lost year, doesn't count against them and the season is in the toilet, let them both play. Let's find out what we've got, only one way to do that.

So ... Coop was a three sport state champ as a senior at Orem. Wrestling, javelin, and FB, and he was national total offense leader as a junior.

Someone should call GA, get his opinion and then do the exact opposite.

Re: Who should start at QB vs wyo
Unless one of them lights the world on fire, I would give them equal chances to each take snaps. Part of the problem is the short week so there are only so many practice reps to give. One thing we all need to understand is these are both freshman that have not seen any time in games. This is where the offensive coaches need to simplify the offense and give them some opportunity to succeed (not holding my breath based on the play calling we have seen). At a minimum this will give the incoming coaches some film and know what they have in the QB room. What a disaster this has been, one could literally not script our season to go worse than this.

I've been told the kids on the team have preferred Coop Legas over Jason Shelley.

I believe JH will have a say in who play's QB moving forward, how much I don't know. He let MW know that JL should be playing over Myers. I also would like to see Legas play and see if he really has the Moxie that I've heard that he does.

Legas is a winner. I hope it translates to college football. But if the team truly did prefer him to Shelley, I feel that's good enough, as Cooper will be in a much better leadership position.

Re: Who should start at QB vs wyo
At the practices I have seen Legas has been getting reps with Offense with Peasely and Sxxxx. Calvin and Larsen have
been working with scout team running plays for the defense. Cooper has been the most accurate passer on the team, but
Calvin has shown some promise.. I hope they step up and meet the challenge.

I would sure hope that now that Shelley is gone, they don't prefer either one of Legas OR Calvin over the other.

Re: Who should start at QB vs wyo
Well there's only certain number of practice reps you can give them this week. But I agree I think they both should definitely get an opportunity whether they both get it in the Wyoming Game or the New Mexico game there should be an opportunity for both of them to see what they can do.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑November 15th, 2020, 7:34 pmI would sure hope that now that Shelley is gone, they don't prefer either one of Legas OR Calvin over the other.

Re: Who should start at QB vs wyo
I meant the kids caring. Of course I would hope the coaches make a decision and that the chosen one validates it. But it was bad that the kids were not willing to fight as hard for Shelley as they were for Legas and/or Calvin, and now that Shelley is gone, I would hope the kids are willing to fight just as hard for either one and not worry about who it is.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑November 15th, 2020, 7:35 pmWell there's only certain number of practice reps you can give them this week. Re: Who should start at QB vs wyo
I would start the one who may have played in real nasty weather as it is going to be totally miserable in Laramie Thursday, also they have a short week and both of them have probably had very few reps. I hope for the best but expect the worst.

Interesting take. That would be Cooper I think. He would have to have a little experience playing in the cold right.

I have personally witnessed Coop shred teams in high school in very cold weather.

My apologies if this was already posted somewhere, but in his weekly radio interview this morning on 1280, Frank said that Cooper will be the starting QB on Thursday.
Bodie Reeder will still be out due to Covid protocol, but Stacy Collins should be able to return today.
