As bad as we thought Kent Myers was
He at least surpassed 200 yards passing against USC, Boise State and Wisconsin, not to mention the occasional decent games he had against conference competition. Some of us rip apart for the time he retweeted his stats after a loss to Air Force, but at least he had that good performance in the first place which would have been good enough for a win if our defense was better.

Re: As bad as we thought Kent Myers was
No intelligent football minded person thought Kent Myers was bad. He was a fine QB for USU. Check out his stats. He was a winner.

Thanks for making this worse.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑November 14th, 2020, 7:22 pmHe at least surpassed 200 yards passing against USC, Boise State and Wisconsin, not to mention the occasional decent games he had against conference competition. Re: As bad as we thought Kent Myers was
Running into some idiot posters lately. Yes Myers was a terrific QB. Remember when he lead us to a blowout win vs Boise? We haven't been able to compete with Boise previous to this game or since.

His career took a bad turn at SDSU the next week. He wasn’t the same after that. He went from decent passer and excellent runner to not very good by the end of his career.

So what’s the standard? By that standard Jordan Love’s last year he sucked too. So are we just going to say every quarterback we’ve ever had sucks? Drives me crazy, people who don’t know scream the loudest.

Re: As bad as we thought Kent Myers was
^^^this^^^. Thank you. Myers did some really good things here including a 5-1 record as a freshman with a bowl win after Keeton, Garretson and Harrison all went down with injuries. He worked his a$$ off here, was a sterling representative of the program and he never hung his head and moped when he got demoted. I don’t understand why our fans love to beat up on our own guys. Drives me nuts.

Re: As bad as we thought Kent Myers was
I always thought the issue with Meyers is that he didn't really grow and develop over his time at USU. He came with some raw talent, and left with about the same level of raw talent. The problem is over time, opponents had figured him out, and since he didn't really develop, he didn't have much to fall back on when opponents had neutralized his strengths.

Wow. If someone doesn't agree with you resort directly to insults and name-calling. It's a shame that not every poster on this board has an "intelligent football mind" like yourself.
Kent was fine. He was a decent QB. He was smart, was a good game-manager, was good at scrambling, and usually made good decisions. He also had a very weak arm, and our offense became remarkably predictable and one dimensional because of it. He was also benched after taking an unforgivable sack in the end zone at the end of a game and replaced by a guy who threw three interceptions in that game. Let's not pretend like Kent was a football god. He was a good, not great qb, but having a good qb is an enormous blessing (as Aggie fans are seeing now).

The Suckdogs irrevocably broke the poor kid. Love became the obvious choice once that breaking's effects became apparent.swordsman1989 wrote: ↑November 15th, 2020, 6:33 amI always thought the issue with Meyers is that he didn't really grow and develop over his time at USU. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: As bad as we thought Kent Myers was
Damn right. If someone behind a screen name is going to ridiculously call out a real person, with feelings, family members, etc by name, I won't hold back. I agree it is a shame there are many without an intelligent football mind. If I bother coming back more often to this board I'll point it out when I see it.stang wrote: ↑November 15th, 2020, 9:00 amWow.
