That’s the thing. Hire Jay today so he can get working on recruiting current players and future players and let Frank finish the season as HC.Ahbye wrote:I'm sure it'll get worse. Since this year doesn't count, the whole team could up and leave immediately. We better hope enough like it here or we may not field a team next weekend...or next year. This could destroy USU football as we know it simply because of a virus changing the rules for a season. You DON'T have time to just sit back and evaluate candidates at this time. They need to move now.

Re: Gary Fired!!!?!?!!
USU must embrace being a stepping stone program. You have to hire a guy that is looking for bigger and better. It sucks, but that’s the only way the program will be successful.
As for Gary, he will be fine. Keep an eye on Urban and you may see Gary follow.

Not sure Jay Hill will want the job. We just fired a coach 3 games into his second season. That has to be a MWC and maybe an NCAA FBS record .Elkaggie wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:47 amAgree!!2004AG wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:46 amThat’s the thing. Re: Gary Fired!!!?!?!!
thank you, we are all aggies. I am forever grateful for what Gary did for our program, but I believe this is the right decision. It has nothing to do was who was right or wrong. Here is to hoping we can get the best coach for the job and have him select the right coordinators etc. it is going to take a year or 2, but it is better than sinking the ship even further by dragging it out.Madmartigan wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:33 amLet's not forget we are all Aggies here. On the D-line, I have been really impressed with Moore. He runs to the ball and has often beat our LBs to plays outside the box.Elkaggie wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:45 amI actually think our Dline has good potential and at times has been pretty good. (Unlike our Oline) Our problem is our LBers. In our scheme they have to be really good, fast, athletic and other than AJ we got nothing.travelingagg wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:38 amWe seem incredibly undersized. We've looked like a 6A high school team playing a D1 team the first three weeks at many positions. Putting our 240-250 pound short DL guys up against the 6'5"-6'7," 310 lb offensive linemen we have seen and will continue to see this season sets us up to fail at the line every game. We're similarly mismatched in many other positions with some exceptions. Seems like a problem that will take a few years to solve.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:09 amHonestly, it will probably take some time for us to rebuild. We are pretty freaking awful right now.TheBigSilk wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:08 amDoes that mean we have to wait 3 more years to let a new coach rebuild?

Only a handful of FBS positions come up every year. Literally, hundreds of lower division coaches aspire to a shot in FBS. Hill would be halfway to Logan before the call ended.

Re: Gary Fired!!!?!?!!
The problem with this line of thinking is you're assuming a lot of things the general public doesn't know that the incoming head coach would. Things definitely happened behind the scenes for this change to be made. The only way we could afford to do this was: 1. a mutual decision 2. Laub bought out the contract or 3. dismissal for causeMWCFAN12 wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:54 amYou don't think coaches look at that kind of stuff ?JonnyCienPesos wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:51 amThat’s dumb.MWCFAN12 wrote:Not sure Jay Hill will want the job. I think they probably do, but look at our record of keeping coaches. this is really the first time we have got rid of a coach this soon. Secondly if you are on contract for 5 years and they fire your after 2 you know your still getting the rest of they years paid.MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:54 amYou don't think coaches look at that kind of stuff ?JonnyCienPesos wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:51 amThat’s dumb.MWCFAN12 wrote:Not sure Jay Hill will want the job. Re: Gary Fired!!!?!?!!
Yes he’s a beast. I also like the young #96 that played some last game. Fata and Hale have been solid too. Nick H is a solid edge rusher too.travelingagg wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:54 amOn the D-line, I have been really impressed with Moore. I'll miss about a dozen people on this board, stay in contact with another handful, and will be forever greatful to the creators for giving us a product we absolutely do not deserve as a fanbase.
Gary didn't get fired for "lack of effort" or "bad team attitude" issues. If it ever comes to light what he did get dismissed for, it will likely rock this board more than any event I can remember. If y'all can't smell how bad this is, you aren't paying attention. People that seem to be in the know have left little clues here and there.
This board has devolved into the same group of people crying about every single thing, but never being involved in anything to fix even one of them. The only valuable pieces of information that now come across this board can be found elsewhere, and we've lost everything that used to make this place fun (the fundraising, the road trip planning, the funny gameweek posts). It's dead, and people like Roy and ineptimus helped kill it.

I’m sure they consider it but every circumstance is different and this one is certainly different. No one in America would have hired Gary to begin with but us.MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:54 amYou don't think coaches look at that kind of stuff ?JonnyCienPesos wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:51 amThat’s dumb.MWCFAN12 wrote:Not sure Jay Hill will want the job. How about taking the personal pi$$ing matches elsewhere. Talk about USU Football, Gary Andersen, Future coaching staff, or whatever, USU Football related here, but take the rest of it elsewhere.

Re: Gary Fired!!!?!?!!
I really wish people would stop dropping statements like this, or other mysterious statements and don’t just come out and say it all. Hints here and there only create rumors that aren’t helpful to anyone. If something is happening, people should say it instead of just try and hide it. Create an anonymous account if that’s what it takes.YoungBloodAggie wrote:How's this for my last post ever:Madmartigan wrote: ↑November 7th, 2020, 11:58 amI'm trying to keep the conversation a bit more level headed. Here’s the deal. I know I am a whiney little beeyotch sometimes. I have overreacted quite a bit in the past.
Most notably, when we lost a few basketball games in the middle of the season last year. I feel much shame that I did not trust Craig and Sam. I will probably continue to overreact about stuff in the future. It’s who I am.
