Re: 14 players out tonight
I read that the mwc has limited teams to only 74 players. There were a lot of guys that I was excited to watch play (for Boise) out of our recruiting class that couldn’t even dress down to be with their team on the sidelines. It’s frustrating. I’m surprised noa got as many carries as he did. DHC was decent but warren is clearly the best rb for Usu. He was pretty consistent tonight

Re: 14 players out tonight
I don't think Noa was planned on being a part of this game. He hasn't even been mentioned by coaches when they talk about the RB group. He was filling in for Gentry and getting some of DHC's time too who was benched early for his fumble and dropped pass.Boiseguy wrote: ↑October 24th, 2020, 9:04 pmI read that the mwc has limited teams to only 74 players. Well he didn't exactly lose that fumble
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: 14 players out tonight
I’m assuming so. Neither team reported any Covid cases so the 74 that went were the 74 that the coaches wanted. It’s possible that Andersen doesn’t want to report the cases or that the players that stayed might be hurt.

Why in the world would Gary willingly not bring our starting TE, S, K, KR/WR? That’s makes no sense to me. My guess is COVID.Boiseguy wrote:I’m assuming so. Everyone seems tight lipped about it and it sounds like most found out Friday. I assume that’s when they got their Covid tests back.

Re: 14 players out tonight
So you're saying Gentry who was listed as RB #3/4 was there and saw zero action but Noa (not listed anywhere on the depth chart or mentioned in prior interviews with coaches when talking about RB's) got carries before both Makakona and Gentry?
And also Bartolic (a returning starting Sr.) that was listed as the starting punter earlier in the week did not punt a single time in the game where a freshman punted 7 times for a sickly 34/ypk?? But he was a holder?...

Re: 14 players out tonight
The way Gary made it sound it was COVID. Some players found out right before getting on the bus. It was an injury the decision would have been made sooner. Here is to hoping we get our players back and SDSU has a few key players sit out this Saturday.

Is it true that those tested positive will be out 3 games? I think I heard Gary say that. Know the Wisconsin Qb will have the same impact.

I think that is a Big Ten rule. I also think these guys may have been quarantined, rather than isolated for positive tests.

Re: 14 players out tonight
Yes. If they were positive Friday 10/23 adding 14 days puts an end to their quarantine after October 5th, Game day vs. Nevada.

Re: 14 players out tonight
Yep, GA confirmed that if a player received a positive on Friday, that essentially means he is missing 3 games or nearly half the season... .
He did mention in a previous interview that some of the guys found out they were not playing mid-week and others found out on Friday. I wonder who belongs to the earlier group?

Also a good reason why this year really needs an asterisk to it.
Seems like we’ve already been hit harder than a lot of teams. Bummer.

Re: 14 players out tonight
Just read about the Wisconsin/Nebraska game being cancelled for this weekend due to COVID outbreak among Badgers players and coaches. One thing in the article that was interesting is that the BIG TEN policy requires any player who test positive for COVID-19 to miss at least 21 days and undergo cardiac screening before being cleared to return. Coach A mentioned 14 days but is that just for those who have been exposed via contact tracing but didn't actually test positive themselves? I wonder if MWC or USU has a policy about cardiac screening and longer delays prior to being cleared to play if a player actually tests positive.

Re: 14 players out tonight
I thought previously Coach A mentioned you could be back quicker if you actually got the virus. The timetable to return was 10 days. But if you were potentially exposed (contact tracing), you have to quarantine 14 days. Strange rules. Strange times. I don't know if any rules have changed since he gave that interview a few weeks ago.

Re: 14 players out tonight
Is the list of players named here players who have contracted Covid 19, or was there any other reason? If I have missed this info I apologize. Just hoping that there might be one or two that can play.I have seen some speculation but nothing for sure.Tania said Covid and injuries. If that is true, are they serious injuries?

Gentry and Bartolic traveled so I would expect them to be available.mcaggie1 wrote: ↑October 30th, 2020, 12:41 pmIs the list of players named here players who have contracted Covid 19, or was there any other reason? Re: 14 players out tonight
It does make sense that those exposed may be out longer than those who actually have it. If you have it, you need to isolate for 14 days from the time you feel our first symptoms (or tested positive) as per USU policy. If you've been exposed you may have to wait several days before you test positive or feel symptoms, and then would have to start the 14 day clock at that point.
Regarding that list of players, we don't know if they have the virus, were exposed to the virus, or maybe were out due to a non-COVID related injury or reason. Basically we have no idea how many of them will be back.....or if there will be more added to the list.

Re: 14 players out tonight
SDSU has ZERO players out. No injuries and no Covid. 3 Freshmen elected not to play-so far that is it.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑October 26th, 2020, 8:53 amThe way Gary made it sound it was COVID. Good luck and hoping for an injury free game!
