By no means should you ever call for the coaches head in the first half of the first game of the season.
But yes, I definitely look forward to the day when he doesn’t coach here anymore.

I'm trying my best to reserve judgment due to the craziness of the year but that first half brings back way too many terrible memories.

We'll have to see what the rest of the schedule looks like, but right now this is looking like that 06 team...the worst football team I have ever seen any level. These guys have enough talent to not be that bad. We'll see if they can get it together

Re: We stink.....
45 yards total offense in a half. Is that a record?
What happened to Mister Motivator (GA)?
Looked to me that the kids gave up towards the end of the half.
Shelley is a deer with headlights.
Just my observations.

Win or lose, that drive was a big deal. There were times last year when we never got up off the mat

There's nothing wrong with hand offs up the guy over and over when they work out like they have the second half. It's when it's like the first half is when it's a problem.

I agree. When we are moving the ball it looks a lot better.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑October 24th, 2020, 7:55 pmThere's nothing wrong with hand offs up the guy over and over when they work out like they have the second half. It's when it's like the first half is when it's a problem.

At first I thought Shelley was the bigger mistake but after more consideration, it very well could be Reeder. Could go either way.

The only positive thing to come out of this game was Jaylen Warren and the run game. It felt like we were wearing them down.

I liked some other things as well. I thought McGriff looked solid. I liked the new UCLA transfer as well. Linebackers need to get better and I’m encouraged that once Lefeged returns our back end will get better.AggieUprising50 wrote: ↑October 24th, 2020, 8:37 pmThe only positive thing to come out of this game was Jaylen Warren and the run game. Re: We stink.....
I expected a slightly better performance, but honestly did not expect much better than what we saw.
I think Shelley was pretty obviously the mistake that most of us thought he was, but I’ll leave my negativity to that.
At this point, I just hope we aren’t all wishing here in 3 weeks that the season had stayed cancelled.

Re: We stink.....
Yeah it is one game against likely the best team we'll face all year, but no doubt Colombi was the better quarterback today. You can see why Shelley was removed from the QB depth chart at the U of U.

Re: We stink.....
I was disappointed in Shelley's play too, but even more so with some of the guys on the defense, mostly in the secondary, giving up on plays. Jackson literally stopped running and watched a guy run into the endzone right in from if him, zero effort. That's the part that gets me. We lost to a more talented team, fine. But to give up half way through the game? That dude doesn't need to be on the field.
Go Aggies!

Re: We stink.....
Give him credit. The only thing that works is Jalen Warren through A and B gap. We would have never have scored twice had he got creative on those drives. Shelley is not a QB and is a below average athlete. We couldn't get outside on Boise's speed. Not endorsing his offense but I am endorsing him letting Warren run when that was the only option.

Re: We stink.....
Despite the score I enjoyed the game. Watched it in its entirety and got a chance to really learn about this team. One of the positives is there is a consensus that Shelly is not a quality QB and certainly a recruiting mistake. One of the negatives is we do not have HC. He definitely would have brought something to today's game. As the board members have consistently posted it is nice to have a power running game again. I have never been a fan of our receivers from top to bottom and it appears that the game commentators are of the same opinion. They just cannot get separation. Some simply are not fast enough and the one or two that have the speed run poor routes. I do think we will win some games and as has been the case for the past couple of years we will eek out a bowl bid. To be fair to GA he has brought some young talent here that can make some waves provided they get the right coaching, schemes, and game plan. Losing HC was a major set back. If he were here this season next year's season would have been special. His departure slows the progression of the program. Hope GA can find a QB as Peasley is not the answer.

This. I mean, those of you unhappy with our OC, I need to ask, what kind of scheme and play calls would have worked?hickaggie wrote: ↑October 24th, 2020, 8:53 pmGive him credit. Re: We stink.....
I feel like there isn't much that would have worked given our personnel versus theirs. We got eaten up when we tried outside, we tried some misdirection and lost big yards, we went up the gut repeatedly for some minimal success so that's what we rode most of the time. We are just so slow on offense that I can't see how you can beat a fast D like the Broncos. Even Thompkins looked slow out there...brownjeans wrote: ↑October 24th, 2020, 9:24 pmThis. I would have liked to see some short easy passes to TE's to move the chains early but without Terrell maybe Reeder went away from that. We really need a WR that can stretch things vertically like Austin / Sharp / Robinson / Jacobs could.....we just don't have that size or type WR on the roster. Our other major need is a QB that is a leader. Love wasn't vocal but did it with his play. Colombi has this in spades. Shelley looked timid and unsure. Peasley only had 1 series and handed it off 2/3 times so who knows...

Re: We stink.....
Hopefully things improve with the QB play and I certainly can't call for changes after the 1st week, but I am not sure of our QB's in the system. I hope I am wrong. Not sure what we have with Peasley, Legas or Calvin. Shelley certainly did not look good, but I am willing to give him the benefit and hopefully he can improve.Aglicious wrote: ↑October 24th, 2020, 9:39 pmI feel like there isn't much that would have worked given our personnel versus theirs.
