Covid impact on USU vs BSU
Brace yourselves for covid having a huge impact on USU/Boise -- and not because of Boise. If you're a bettor, go put your kids' Christmas fund on Boise -16.5.

Well... . If true, that not only affects this week's game, but potentially the next couple too.

I noticed GA said we are way short on numbers for practice during the coaches show. Must be COVID

There was an outbreak at the LLC where the freshman football players live.

Even with a full compliment of players for USU it may still be a good bet to bet the farm on BSU after giving the points.

The OP of this thread did once accurately call before it was public that we would be missing a few starters in a game cause of suspensions and funeral leave.
Re: Covid impact on USU vs BSU
Source? I hope this is not true. While it might help our cause, it wouldn’t feel like a win even if we ended up winning

Yeah I hope it isn't true, but the point spread is lower than I thought it would be. Surprised we are less than 20 point underdogs.

Re: Covid impact on USU vs BSU
Even if you concede we still would have lost and lost badly to Boise with a full compliment of players, the story of this year is we all year long have to worry about taking a hit with covid. And so do the other teams.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2020, 11:12 pmYeah I hope it isn't true, but the point spread is lower than I thought it would be. I don't even watch the game when they go to Boise anymore. If we win, I can always watch it on my DVR. But nobody wins in that terrible excuse of a stadium, that has troughs for urinals for cryin out loud. If we win, it will be fun to watch it on DVR.

I can understand that. Probably saved yourself some frustration over the years. This year is different for me though. I just look forward to watching our young men play.AggiesForever wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 7:58 amI don't even watch the game when they go to Boise anymore. Gary historically has completed very well when playing as an underdog in the first game of the season over the years. I believe we can go in and compete much like auburn, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, a&m etc.
One thing to note is that Boise is replacing its oline and dline pretty much. On a non spring, short fall practice. Could help us in some ways.
Go aggies!

Re: Covid impact on USU vs BSU
There are some things I would trade with Boise if we could...football success, fan devotion, a major city all to ourselves, but despite all of their success, I would trade for neither of the two main athletic facilities. The football stadium in particular is an eyesore and puzzling considering their level of success. It is the second worst stadium in which I have ever watched a game (the first is Qualcomm). The best seat for the game is literally in the upper deck, and of course the restrooms, as mentioned above, are a mess and a little too intimate for my preference. And I didn't even get to that turf.AggiesForever wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 7:58 amI don't even watch the game when they go to Boise anymore. If we win, I can always watch it on my DVR. Thanks. I feel better. It doesn't help that they kick up butts up there every other year either

It would sure be awesome to win there. It has been a long time coming. I'll watch and hope for the best, but it will be difficult as always.AggiesForever wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 7:58 amI don't even watch the game when they go to Boise anymore. Re: Covid impact on USU vs BSU
This is accurate; not sure on the numbers but there is talk of moving the freshmen players from that dorm location at some point this season; possibly into apartments/housing off-campus. Not a bad idea to keep the players together off-campus, I feel; especially since they are practicing better safety protocols than the other non-athlete students residing in that LLC also.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2020, 7:52 pmThere was an outbreak at the LLC where the freshman football players live.

Covid impact on USU vs BSU
The LLC dorm outbreak was a few weeks ago and most of the COVID issues in that set of dorms are through the isolation and quarantine process. The rates at USU have been trending down with much lower new cases than previous weeks. I new cases have generally been fewer than 20 per day going back over a week. I am hopeful that the rumors above are not true and we do not have significant players out for the game tomorrow.

Re: Covid impact on USU vs BSU
Interestingly enough, the line has moved to Boise -17.5 in certain places. I still took Boise -17.5 (based on the recommendation of an anonymous internet avatar who has pretty good credibility over the years).
Moneyline is an insane Boise -1000.

I think Boise covers that spread by about two touchdowns.

Ya'll are
First game of the year, and some crazy things have happened all over the country. No tape, not knowing what to expect. Our offense slowing down the amount of plays/possesions. 17.5 is easy money betting on USU this weekend.

That doesn’t include the 15-20 mph winds forecasted. I think both teams are set up this year to run first. Of course if they average 6.5 yards a carry again, the game could get out of hand. Last year there was 156 snaps 912 yards of offense. This game should be a low scoring ground game, with half the offensive numbers.

Funny how it still feels like we are starting the season out with a bodybag game even playing only a conference schedule.

Re: Covid impact on USU vs BSU
Boise only passed for 178 yards last year. It wasn't the pass the killed us - it was the run (297 yards rushing as a team). Sophomore George Holani ran for 187 yards himself - on just 16 carries. He was getting big chunks of yardage nearly every time he touched the ball. Is he still with them this year? They averaged 6.5 ypc as a team. Air Force was even more dominant - they ran for 448 yards against us last year. I just don't see that our run defense is going to be dramatically better this year over last year. I think good teams are going to continue to run over the Aggies.Full wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 11:47 amThat doesn’t include the 15-20 mph winds forecasted. Re: Covid impact on USU vs BSU
I heard last week that the athletics area was a bit of a hot spot. I didn't post anything as I could not confirm, nor did I know if it was Football, Basketball, Volleyball or Track.
I have not heard anything this week though. Unless I got my days mixed up. I do feel that 2020 has been the longest 6 years of my life.
