USU +14.5

Post by Aggie84025 » October 18th, 2020, 3:59 pm

Looks like the Aggies are 14 and a half Point underdogs. What are people's thoughts is this about right too high to low?

At 14.5 I’d take the Aggies. At 13.5 I’d take Boise.
Not sure if Vegas is fully factoring in how many less possessions there will be with our new offense.
Of course last year they rolled us by a lot more than that in Logan.

I don't think the Aggies cover.

Looks like it’s going to be nasty weather, for whatever that’s worth.

I think we cover the spread. I believe we have some great talent where it matter most, O-line and running back. I like our chances of getting a win. We win or lose by a a score.

I would go Aggies on that bet. I trust the first game magic we've seen in the past.

Maybe nasty weather works in our favor? I’ve seen Boise lose a few bad weather games to Fresno and SDSU

It is better for a run heavy team right?

I envy some of the optimism I’m seeing here. If USU covers this spread I’ll be truly excited about this season. My guess is more in the range of a 45-14 loss. I just don’t think this is a better team than last year’s, and we saw what happened against Boise last year.

Has GA ever given Boise a competitive game? I hope this one doesn’t get ugly.

That is the joy of being a fan is having preseason optimism. I just hope my optimism turns into reality.

Beings USU list by 35 at home last year, I was thinking around 20.

I’m hopeful that the coaching has changed. I’m expecting much improved play calling on the offensive side. The defense is still a mystery for me at this point.

The thing about this game is 2020 has literally created a situation where not a single soul knows. Everything is a complete guess. Vegas doesn’t have a clue, we fans don’t have a clue. In all honesty we don’t even know who will be starting at nearly half of our positions. You can say last year this, last year that, but COVID has and will be the equalizer. Who’s to say Boise’s beat three players don’t test positive on Friday and are ruled out for Saturday’s game, or vice versa for the aggs? My point is that I’m thankful to have Aggie football back, and to try and predict the outcome is pointless. Our camp has been so tight lipped that the excitement is literally building by the second for me. When that opening kick off flies at 5 on Saturday night I will be the happiest man on earth regardless of the outcome or depth chart. I am an Aggie and will always be an Aggie and for that I am grateful! Go aggies!

One thing that’s a bummer is if we still had those players were recently lost, the spread would still be the same and I would’ve been confident about covering.

I am worried about the speed in the safety/LB position (just like last year). It was seemingly fixed with Pollard at Safety and Lefeged moving to Nickel. I’m also a little worried about OL depth now.

I'd be surprised if we kept it within 14, but this is a weird year.

Look, I am probably the most negative person on this board, but unless our running game and defense is just atrocious and we can’t move the ball at all, even I don’t know that there will be enough game clock for this to turn into a massive blowout. I think this is a 10-21point loss type game. At least I hope so.

Just glad to have Aggie sports back. Football will be a good appetizer for basketball in a few weeks.

I think Boise will score ~31.5 points (give or take 3.5)
Will we score 21?

42-14 Boise.

I don't think USU has a defense that can stop the Broncos and the offense is going to struggle out of the gates implementing a completely new style with a new QB.
