Baseball Playoffs
October baseball and I love it. Dodgers vs Yankees in the WS and I will hate it. Rooting for Padres vs A's.

Re: Baseball Playoffs
Wow, the AL standings really turned over. Weren't the ChiSox holding the best record in AL two weeks ago?
Is it a true bracket or do they reseed(if NYY beats Cleveland do they play the A's or ChiSox)
how did the do seeds? Houston 29-31 is seeded ahead of both ChiSox and Toronto who have better records
SF and Milwaukee have same record, but only one made it -and I they didn't play head-to-head?

Re: Baseball Playoffs
They took the 1st and 2nd team from each division. So the 2nd place team would be in over a team with a better record.
True seeding, and no reseed after each round.
It bums me out the the best (potential) matchup is the Dodgers and the Padres, but that can't be for the NL pennant, it will be the 2nd round.
I think the Dodgers and the A's will go this year. But with a crazy 3 game first round a favorite will get upset in my mind.

Re: Baseball Playoffs
Braves held the Reds scoreless over 22 innings en route to a sweep.
Given that this is 2020 and we can't have nice things, we all know how this is going to end though: With the Yankees, Dodgers, or Astros winning the whole thing.

Who do you like - Braves or Dodgers? There is a lot of offense on both teams. This could be a good series.

There is still time for them to lose in the WS. I hate the Braves, but I loathe the Dodgers. I find it fun when the Dodgers lose it in the 9th like last night.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑October 12th, 2020, 4:22 pmI'm just shocked the Braves are actually winning in the postseason.

Re: Baseball Playoffs
I’m a Braves fan and Dodger hater...so there is some extra juice in this series for me. Max pitched well and he’s been solid and though the other starters have thrown well in the post season I don’t have that much confidence against the dodger lineup. But the Braves have a good lineup too so might just need to get the runs to beat them.

Re: Baseball Playoffs
The Rays are looking like a lock but the Braves, though up 2-0, have a lot of work left to do in my opinion. I worry that their outburst in the 9th might give them confidence going into game 3. This brings back nightmares of the 1996 WS when the Braves went up 2-0 on the Yankees and promptly lost the next 4. I've learned to condition myself as an Aggie and Braves fan to never get too ahead of myself as history has been too painful....I was at the Auburn game

It certainly wouldn't get the ratings of a Dodgers/Astros rematch, but it would be fun to see the braves or rays win it all.

I enjoy watching the Braves play. I am a big fan of Nick Markakis (since his days in Baltimore) and am happy to see him have a chance to win something. He is an underrated player. The young guys - Albies, Acuna, and Ozuna are great young players. Freddie Freman is probably the most underrated superstar in the game. Braves have a lot to like on that team.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑October 14th, 2020, 12:50 pmIt certainly wouldn't get the ratings of a Dodgers/Astros rematch, it would be fun to see one of those teams win it all.

Re: Baseball Playoffs
Sam I believe you're a Giants fan and I assume you're still bitter about the 93 pennant chase and that you won 103 games only to not make the playoffs. The Giants have accomplished SOOO much more since that timeframe than the Braves...so at this point in time I hope you'll let it go and get on board with this Braves team, they're a likable bunch. We aren't in the NL west anymore (Atlanta in the west...ummm ok) so no divsional rivalry. I don't mind the Giants now that Bonds is long gone....so it's time to bury that hatchet and get on board with the Braves.
Also, I thought Freddie was a California kid and I had to look it up and both of his parents were Canadian so he holds dual citizenship...so don't hold that against the guy.

I'm a Giants fan too, but I'm on the Braves bandwagon this year. Last year when we played Wake Forest, we caught a Braves game in Atlanta, so they've kind of become my second favorite team.breadysmith wrote: ↑October 14th, 2020, 2:51 pmSam I believe you're a Giants fan and I assume you're still bitter about the 93 pennant chase and that you won 103 games only to not make the playoffs. I'm liking all of these positive vibes from everyone for the Braves. After the shellacking they took yesterday and having to face Kershaw today the series might just be evened up....so we'll need all the positive vibes we can get. We are really missing Mike Soroka right now.

It’s like the script was written and they had to just act it out...in true Braves fashion. They’re young and talented so they can get back there. I don’t care at this point about NL vs AL I’m all in for the Rays!!!

Hey at least they won a playoff series this year which is a rarity for them. Sucks to choke away a 3-1 lead. As a Jazz fan that hits close to home.
