Aggie Identity Problem??
One of my friends is constantly on the lookout for USU stuff for me...this month a Merlin Olsen 1974 LA Rams card and a Jordan Love rookie card. Some time ago he gave me this water bottle...it wasn't until just this morning I noticed the "Salt Lake City"!!

Probably some giveaway item from a distance education site. I'm pretty sure I've got some stuff from USU - Kaysville.

Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
There used to be a house that was some sort of "green" building project around Kaysville that was a branch of USU. I wonder if this is something similar.

This post is likely straight up poor sarcasm and cannot be taken seriously.

Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
At least it doesn't say Wendover, Nevada, because I think we have campus there too... or we used to (one that I noticed). Might be closed?

Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
Exactly. I actually finished my degree at the Salt Lake location of USU on State Street and about 25th south in Salt Lake. I was before the time of this new logo, but I have a USU water bottle that is basically the same.aggieguy13 wrote: ↑September 22nd, 2020, 2:42 pmProbably some giveaway item from a distance education site. Wendover, Nevada or Wendover, Utah? It would make no sense that USU has a Wendover, NV campus.

USU, as the state's land grant university, has a satellite campus in every county (all 29 counties in Utah) and a total of 32 satellite campuses.

By the way..it is the best insulated bottle I have ever had. Fill it with water, close lid, and place in freezer...still not frozen inside after 24 hours. It has served me well, filled with pre made Margaritas in my golf bag.(like WC Fields...that's my lemonade).

Better get collecting! Some people collect water bottles of all the national parks, others collect water bottles from all the USU Satellite campuses.

Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
The technology in thermodynamics and heat transfer that goes into the alloys these bottles are made of is amazing to me. You can put hot liquid in them and it stays hot for hours. You can put cold liquids in them and it stays cold for hours. What I don't understand is how the bottle knows the difference.tinplater wrote: ↑September 22nd, 2020, 3:39 pmBy the way..it is the best insulated bottle I have ever had. Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
Well, when I was teaching distance ed courses for USU I did have the occasional student from West Wendover, NV. We did have a site there a few years ago. Don't know about now.

Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
There is a West Wendover, NV. There is also an East Wendover, UT. The Utah side is the poor part of town that doesn't have the casinos and minimal commercial/business buildings. I would imagine the USU Wendover facilities would be on the Utah side of the border, but I have no idea. The money in Wendover is on the Nevada side. I did some work design and construction oversite work on a water line from the well fields west of Wendover to their water storage tanks just west of town. I got to know more about that town than I cared to in those months. When I look at the USU website for satellite campuses, the link to the Wendover campus gives me a Tooele city address. That is a good distance from Wendover. Maybe they shut that satellite campus down?

Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
When I was at the salt lake campus, the first week of the semester they handed out of bunch of free stuff. Pizza (from the pie), jimmy johns, Aggie ice cream, beanies, hoodies, water bottles etc..
The old campus was in the granite school district building on state street. The lone elevator took what seemed like 5 years to get up to the 7th floor. The new salt lake campus down in taylorsville is much nicer.

I don’t think the Bluffdale one is worth striving for. It’a a great way to reduce recidivism, deter future crime, and help people turn their life around. However, I’ve heard they have to live in a more controlled version of BYU’s campus run by a more militant honor code office.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑September 22nd, 2020, 3:50 pmBetter get collecting! Yeah when I went, it was at the Granite School district location. Interesting they moved. Disregard by earlier post about it being on State and 25th.elcheque2 wrote: ↑September 22nd, 2020, 9:58 pmWhen I was at the salt lake campus, the first week of the semester they handed out of bunch of free stuff. Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
I seem to recall it was right on the border, when I checked it was actually in Nevada if you can believe that. I think it's closed though, maybe temporarily, not sure.

That's interesting. I guess it shouldn't be surprising - there is not much going on in the Utah part of that town.ViAggie wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2020, 8:38 amI seem to recall it was right on the border, when I checked it was actually in Nevada if you can believe that. Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
Right? Didn't we once consider giving Wendover to Nevada? Just combining it with West Wendover? Would make some sense.Yossarian wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2020, 9:52 amThat's interesting. Re: Aggie Identity Problem??
I believe you are correct - but they (Nevada) didn't want it. They would have taken on a lot of burden but with no economic gain. I really can't see how people live out there, but I'm glad the town exists as I make that frequent trek across I-80. All of those Nevada towns from Wendover to Wells to Elko to Carlin to Battle Mountain to Winnemucca to Lovelock to Fernley and on in to Sparks and Reno. Horrible little towns along the way.ViAggie wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2020, 10:02 amRight? Didn't we once consider giving Wendover to Nevada? Just combining it with West Wendover?
