Football tix refund
I am extremely frustrated that the mwc bailed so early. I know the program needs the money but I want my full refund, i guess my kids will be getting that new Xbox series X now with that money!

I think we’re all frustrated, but let’s be clear about this. If you want to see Aggie Football in the future, please donate everything you paid for your tickets

Re: Football tix refund
Aren’t many season tickets part donation part seat?
You can probably get a chargeback of seat portion, if the university fails to grant a refund- but athletics is going to struggle more.

Re: Football tix refund
By this logic our university president and athletic director need to reduce their salaries to be “True Aggies”. Are they doing that?rAggie wrote:True Aggie fans will convert it to a donation.

Re: Football tix refund
Our AD just received a $150,000 retention bonus that, as far as I know, he did not defer. So, no?
I hope as many people as possible donate this year but understand many people have to confront changed circumstances financially just as the department does and don’t blame anyone who needs a refund.

Re: Football tix refund
I am as mad about this news as I’ve ever been about anything. I am disappointed in the MW, our own AD, and our president.
I still won’t ask for a refund. It could ruin the academic plans for hundreds of Aggies if we all pull our money back. I will find another way to express my anger, but I won’t pull back the donation.

You may think of it as a sunk cost, but it's not. It only becomes a sunk cost if they refuse refunds.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑August 11th, 2020, 8:17 amIt’s a sunk cost. No reason to ever think of it again. That’s the rule with sunk costs.

I don't agree with canceling the season and I believe that there needs to be consequences to decisions made. If we just keep paying for poor decisions we keep getting poor decisions. I will not be donating my costs of tickets, but I won't try to control those of you who want too.

I got a call from the ticket office saying so. I can get a refund, get a credit for the spring, get a credit for next fall, or donate the money. I still haven't decided what to do.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
6 But this I say, [that Aggie] which soweth (Aggie donations) sparingly shall reap (Aggie rewards) also sparingly; and [that Aggie] which soweth (Aggie donations) bountifully shall reap (Aggie rewards) also bountifully.
7 Every [Aggie] according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for [the AD] loveth a cheerful giver.
8 And [the AD] is able to make all (Aggie) grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all (Aggie) sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good (Aggie) work:

Re: Football tix refund
Simple: if you can afford it, please donate. If you can't, get a refund. We don't know how our guys voted, but it was a collective decision of the conference members. Personally, I think the risks of playing vs. not playing are sixes and they should play, but if a kid gets COVID at home and gets really sick, or heaven forbid, dies-- no lawsuit. If the same happens while playing--lawsuit, which will far eclipse any donated monies.

Re: Football tix refund
If you can't donate, at least opt to credit your payment towards next season. You end up even, but the AD is able to have money to deal with issues right now as they see fit.

Re: Football tix refund
What about the kids that are attending the University for an education? Why are they ok to attend, but playing a sport is suddenly the most dangerous thing? Are they going to sue if they get sick? How about the kid that plays pre-COVID and has a life-changing injury, or heaven forbid, dies - they are not suing the university for those injuries. There is an inherent risk to life and death is one of those risks. Death by coronavirus for a college football player would be in the lowest of risks when comparing what other risks these athletes are taking on each time they walk onto the field.BigBlueBlood wrote: ↑August 12th, 2020, 11:23 amSimple: if you can afford it, please donate. I texted Ryan to see what the deal is. He told me the same options that had been posted already. I haven't received an announcement or email yet. I still have the old one from May.

Re: Football tix refund
Have you listened to the precautions taken for classes to be held. Social distancing with masks when they have class, with less class time and more online instruction. Large portions of the semester online only. I have a niece that is staying in Logan because her 1010 level classes at Weber State are all online.Chupamedia wrote: ↑August 12th, 2020, 2:03 pmWhat about the kids that are attending the University for an education? In football it’s difficult to shift to an online model when one player on a team gets COVID and suddenly 20-30 players are quarantined. It’s a little harder to tackle someone from six feet away or from home.
Ultimately it’s shows the problems inherent FBS football. It’s what happens when Amateur Student Athletes are lead by a ineffective NCAA that dress the inevitable break away of the P5 conferences. It’s a decision that health department from all the Mountain West states we’re trying to agree on. I think trying to get Hawaii, California, New Mexico, and Utah on the same page was part of the difficulty. Throw in the threat of player “unions” to add one more strike.

Re: Football tix refund
I talked to Cody today as well. They are calling each season ticket holder to tell them their options. looks like they have a big list so it’s taking awhile. I moved my payment to the Spring in hopes for Spring football. It sounds like most people are doing that as well.
Re: Football tix refund
Got a call, moving mine to spring. Appreciate that they called. They do plan to call everyone but a lot to get to.
