John Stockton career assists has to be up there
Wayne Gretzky points total (he had more assists than any other player has had goals). His goals plus assists points will not be broken.

Close, but he has more assists than any other player has POINTS (goals+assists combined), and he also has the most goals all-time. His point record is unbreakable

Some of these will never be broken because of how sports has changed, particularly in how long people play. For example, Stockton missed a grand total of 22 games in 19 years, 18 of which came at the start of a season for an MCL injury. That means he only missed 4 games over the remaining 18 years. That is incredible. Given the typical duration of a career, how people take time off for dings and minor injuries, and the death of the traditional point guard, it would take an NBA paradigm shift for Stockton's assist record to be beaten.

His steals record looks pretty safe also. Chris Paul is the closest active player and needs 1000 to pass him. Not very likely even if he plays another 5 years. If he equalled his best year average and played 80 games for 5 full seasons, he could pass Stockton on steals.

Most all purpose yards in a D1A college football game - 578 yards Emmett White Nov 2000. And since Louie Giammona doesn't have any eligibility left, who's gonna break it? ;)

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. Louisiana Tech having a quarterback throw 445 attempts without an interception, and it was our guy Will Davis that broke the streak. The announcer actually compared it to Joe Dimaggio's streak.

A little known record that usually only a fan of the team would remember, but I find that when I think about it, it seems near impossible to beat or even tie.

The St. Louis Cardinals had a player named Fernando Tatis as their 3rd baseman. April 23, 1999 the Cardinals were at Dodger Stadium, and facing Chan Ho Park (Dodger pitcher).

Tatis became the only player in Baseball history to hit 2 Grand Slam home runs in the same inning, and off the same pitcher.
That is an amazing feat.

Cy Young 511 wins, starters now will have difficulty passing 300. Hoss Rayburn also won 60 games in a single season.

Cy youngs record is the most unbreakable record for a career in sports. There will never be another pitcher get 511 wins ever. It is barely even possible. A pitcher could average 25 wins for a 20 year career and still wouldn't have it.

I think Cy Young's record of complete games is another in the category of untouchable. His career high is over 100 complete games more than the 2nd place guy. His individual season high was 48. The last pitcher to hit the 30 mark was Steve Carlton in 1972. The high-water mark in the past five years has been 6.

When they say you can't compare eras in sports, that might not be more true in any other scenario than pitching. Baseball of Cy Young's day was just a completely different thing.

Steve Carlton in 1972 was totally insane, won 27 games for a last place team that won 59. Arguably the greatest year ever for a pitcher.

One that hardly ever gets brought up when talking about these records is DiMaggio's 56-game hit streak. It seems like it is quite likely that someone gets on a hot streak and even has the luck of a little flare that drops in or an infield hit to continue a streak, but nobody really gets close. The closest (in the modern era) was Pete Rose with 44 games in 1978 - Wee Willie Keeler had consecutive games with at least one safe base hit in 1897. This record may continue to stand for a long time.

All of these are pretty good, but Vander Meer's back-to-back no hitters has got to be the most unbeatable record in all of sports. You'd have to throw three complete game no hitters IN A ROW to beat it.

To be fair, many of these records will never be beaten.

The crazy thing about how his streak ended is that it was a terrible pass. Triple coverage, and Willie D was clearly the closest guy to the ball. It's nuts that a guy who could throw such an easy interception went 445 attempts without doing so.

It would be tough to break it, but I could see some superstar swimmer eventually coming around and beating it. Mark Spitz for example maybe doesn't get to 23, but he would have been in the ballpark if he didn't retire at age 22.

The Cy Young Record will never be touched. The greatest pitcher in history could come around and he isn't getting to 511 wins.

I like to think Greg Maddux had the right style to get 511 wins but he only made it to 355. He played 23 seasons and had 582 total decsions. He and Rodger Clemens are the only guys in the top 10 wins to have played in the last 50 years. Second place is almost 100 wins off Cy Young. Unless there is some sort of rule change there is no way anyone comes even close to 511 wins.

Yeah I'd put that record in the "impossible" category. There are some records that probably will never be broken, but are possible. John Stockton's assist record will probably never be broken, but it is possible some superstar point guard that stays healthy like Stockton and plays a long career could come around. No pitcher is ever getting to 511 wins unless like you say they do some rule change to how they count wins.

Nolan Ryan's strikeout and no-hitter records. Not for lack of talent, but for the same reason Cy Young's win total will never be reached, pitchers are used far differently, and pitch far less, than they used to. Eight times in his career he started 35 games or more in a season, and in 1974 he started 41 games and pitched in excess of 333 innings. Five times in his career he had 20 or more complete games in a season. Only once in the past 20 years has a pitcher had more than ten complete games in a season, and that was James Shields in 2011. Six times in his career he exceeded 250 innings pitched. Since 2000, only six times has a pitcher exceeded 250 innings in a season.

Not as physically unbeatable as some mentioned, but Rickey Henderson's 1406 stolen bases is pretty safe for a long time.
That's 478 more than 2nd place Lou Brock and he wasn't too shabby.

Edit: After looking at Baseball Reference, I stand corrected. His record is pretty much physically impossible. More so than say Joe D's hitting streak and others. They guy played 25 years, had 3055 hits and 2190 walks. I can't imagine anyone ever having the longevity, the speed to steal at a 80% success rate (let alone having the green light to do so), and that kind of ability to get on base ever happening again. You'd have to average 70 steals for 20 years to come close.

OK...I'm fessin' up my age here, but I actually saw Terry Baker play on that Oregon St. bball team with 7' Mel Counts who later was a 1st round draft pick by the Celtics (backing up some guy name Bill Russell). My uncle was a big University of Idaho booster and took me to a game in Moscow when they played OSU. I had forgot that team made the Final Four.

Ray Guy punting. He was the first to hit the TV screen above the Louisiana Superdome. He had only three kicks blocked in his career.

I've spoken to Guy, Told him I was in the stadium when he set the record for the longest punt in Romney. ( I think it's been beaten now) Was taking to Steve Mothersell and he told me he had spoken with Guy also and asked if I had reminded him that USU had blocked one of his punts. I hadn't. He said when he brought up the block, Guy was instantly furious, and barked out "You F-ers were offsides!"

LOL

Baker was the top scoring guard for that Oregon State team with something like 13 points per game.
