Nice intro to the highlights. Sounds like the creator of the video has used it for other intros, too.

Another low release shooter. He and the left-handed teammate of his in the video have similar shots with a low release point. Do kids not raise the ball up above their head and elevate to shoot anymore?Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑July 14th, 2020, 6:09 pmNice intro to the highlights. Re: Interview with Hoops prospect R.J. Keene
22 when do you expect 247 to evaluate him? Noticed on ESPN he is rated about the 30th best shooting guard or roughly in the top 250-300 recruits in the country.aggies22 wrote: ↑July 14th, 2020, 3:45 pmI was able to interview 2021 prospect R.J. Also an interesting note is his dad played for Illinois. So basketball runs in his veins.

Re: Interview with Hoops prospect R.J. Keene
They are in the process of hiring several more national guys. That way hoops prospects will be evaluated much quicker than they have been in the past.slcagg wrote: ↑July 21st, 2020, 10:22 pm22 when do you expect 247 to evaluate him? Watching the tape it appears he could fill a Justin Bean type roll. Looks like he has a nose for the ball. Maybe he fills that roll at the 3, but every team needs a guy like that. Don’t know how to explain it but he has a different body type and unique athleticism, similar to Bean.

Not a bad idea. Bring him in, redshirt him and let him learn watching Bean finish up his senior year.nswaggie wrote: ↑July 22nd, 2020, 11:28 amWatching the tape it appears he could fill a Justin Bean type roll. Re: Interview with Hoops prospect R.J. Keene
That sets up an interesting scenario. It would seem nigh on impossible to land a 4 star with multiple offers from solid programs to come to Logan to redshirt. In addition, it is possible that this kid along all he other high school players in the nation won't get to play this season

I don’t think he would redshirt. But didn’t you guys have a 5 Star two years ago that redshirted?nvspuds wrote: ↑July 22nd, 2020, 2:17 pmThat sets up an interesting scenario. From Bean to Keene. The natural progression of things.

Re: Interview with Hoops prospect R.J. Keene
He left after Alford got hired and I thought he might stay because Alford recruited him to UCLA. Alas!
As for his usage under Muss, I would have liked to see him get more playing time but he was the only underclassman on the active roster. At that time Mussleman really preferred the smaller, position less lineup loaded with seniors who had been practicing and playing under that system for quite awhile. Brown has a lot of game but was not a great fit under that system.
He would have been much better suited to what Alford does but Arizona came calling and what can you do?

I saw a tweet that said the success of jessop at Boise helped him in his commitment. Uh ok.

Re: Interview with Hoops prospect R.J. Keene
It's fine. He went where he felt he was needed most. While he is a talented kid, he doesn't play a position of NEED for us. Any of us can look at the roster and see the direction that the staff is probably going. Scholarships are scarce next year.

Good for him, always cool to see a kid fulfill a dream. I hope he tears it up, except the 2, maybe 3, times he plays against the greatest school in the MW.
Go Aggies!

Makes me think of the saying that the coaches use "We can with you or we can win without you, you make the choice."

Funny how players perceive themselves sometimes. Granted I only watched a short video but he didn’t seem to have a game very similar to Jessop’s.

I just hate it when good kids make bad decisions .
I’m sure he’ll be fine at BSU, and we will be fine without him.

Definitely have to question the kid's decision making when he chooses to play for a Whiny Bi+ch (I can express myself with swearing) @ ExtraMile Arena over Craig Smith @ the Spectrum. Good luck with Leon and his son!ineptimusprime wrote: ↑July 23rd, 2020, 2:03 pmI just hate it when good kids make bad decisions .

If I was 18 I would rather live in Boise than Logan. It may have come down to nothing more than that.

Re: Interview with Hoops prospect R.J. Keene
Or if one prefers a Commuter School then BSU is a great option. Boise State is considered a commuter school, due to more than 86% of its students living off-campus.
Word around Boise is that dudes from Reno and/or dudes with ties to UNR love spending time with Leon.

I guess the coaching staff saw things that aren't in the highlight tape, but I'm not too torn up about missing out on this one.

If I was 18 I would rather go to a real university and not a watered down commuter school. However there was probably more to him committing than just that. Although that may have played a part in it, who knows.
Btw I’ve lived near downtown Boise and I loved it but in no way is it some big time night life place. More than Logan but really as a college student a real campus would keep you busy enough. Most aren’t old enough for the bar scene anyways, ice cream will suffice .

It doesn't matter who he is. All that matters is that the "little guy" keeps making Leon happy.
