Potential New Helmets
No idea what decal would go on these or if they're going to be used or not but they look pretty cool.

While I hate the two tone look of the Jaguars I kinda dig this one.

I’d probably have to see it in action first before I decide. Wonder what logo they would go with..

I’m onboard with these! Just please don’t throw the bull decal on them. Don’t put that decal on any helmet, for that matter. This small school (in the often overlooked western US) needs some logo consistency if we are ever going to build national brand recognition.

I would like to see pewter with a blue facemask. I think it would look great with the pewter jersey/pant.

I find it hilarious that whoever took that picture took time to photoshop themselves out but didn't bother to worry about Mike or the other guy

Would there be any potential new or updated jerseys to go along with these helmets?

Re: Potential New Helmets
You can run into trademark issues when you don't use your primary logo. People start hacking it, and then when you try to stop them they use the "you never use it" defense. So its a good idea to keep your primary logo in front of people and in use all of the time. Put the secondary logo on the pants, like they have done with the uni's in the background.

What I like, is we are purchasing new helmets and hiring a new coach at a time when many big name schools are cutting back.

Re: Potential New Helmets
Does it transition from a blueish chrome to chrome- or is it just the angle? I like chrome blue tint a lot. An entire helmet in that would look really good.
I generally dislike chrome. When we incorporated chrome before it was always harder to see. But blue tinted chrome base on the helmet with a U-State solid chrome logo would be unique.

Re: Potential New Helmets
These give the defense too big of an advantage. The opposing player can just look at our receiver’s helmet and see if/when the ball is coming without having to turn around.

Potential New Helmets
Reminds me a bit of MTSU’s fade although theirs is opposite fade. Their decal works out because it ends up being on the chrome part. Not sure how a decal would look on our new one since it seems to fade midway through the decal zone.

Maybe they'll do a gradient decal or something with the colors reversed.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑July 4th, 2020, 2:24 pmReminds me a bit of MTSU’s fade although theirs is opposite fade. Re: Potential New Helmets
The cost of a good college football helmet ranges from $140-$350. Jerseys run from $80 to $100, and pants can be purchased from $40 to $60. All this times 85 or 105 players or any number in between, plus the need for back up jerseys, pants and the assorted damaged helmet and we have a budgetary creeping problem. Suiting up just 85 players for a home game can additionally cost, with averaging my posted numbers, around $32,700, and if we go all the way to suiting up home game 105 players the number goes to $40,400.
I believe that an additional $30K for a position coach, or a split to assist an attractive Coordinator with a new position coach would be a much better investment. Players that are better prepared by better coaches are way more interesting to me than having designer uniforms.

Good insight S17vk, and a fair question. I have no idea if Nike is paying any, part or all of the bill. Beyond that, those helmets look like they have a high maintenance finish.

By the end of a game the lineman's helmets particularly would look totally trashed as the missing pieces of chrome would really standout.

Re: Potential New Helmets
They should wait 5 or 6 years to see if USU will still have a football team after the coronavirus shutdown. Styles could change by then and you don't want to roll out yesterday's fashion with your "new" look. It might save the school some money, too, if helmets are not needed.

Re: Potential New Helmets
I don't think Nike has gone into the helmet business. They might pay for their artists to produce a new design but they only want to supply there own gear In past years they have sent helmets that were two or three years old to get refurbished. They take all of the pads out, Sand the shells down to the original helmet and then apply a new vacuum applied film to the helmet. I think it costing around 200.00 for each helmet.NavyBlueAggie wrote: ↑July 6th, 2020, 11:18 pmGood insight S17vk, and a fair question. I have no idea if Nike is paying any, part or all of the bill.
