Guys... The announcement by the Cal State system is just the first of what I expect will be a series of similar announcements. I expect that at least the UC system will follow suit, and Washington and Colorado schools probably will as well. And of course, there is a very good chance that USU will not have students on campus either. This combined with the general sentiment expressed by the MWC that games won't be played without fans or without students on campus, and it all adds up to a likelihood that there is not going to be a football season this year unfortunately.

The UC system has followed suit now.

Here are the things I feel near 100% confident on right now.
1. Any games played will be without fans.
2. The SEC is the most likely to play first and the most games. If the SEC gets cut down, every one else will have already lost a lot of time.
3. Students have to be on campus for a school to play football.
4. Notre Dame is going to play an all ACC schedule along with the rest of the ACC.
5. Every conference is going to play a conference only schedule (maybe with some combined conferences with PAC12 and MW the most likely.)
6. BYU will have to play the other independents not named ND. Probably H-H with Army, NMSU, UConn, UMass and Liberty.
7. Multiple teams are going to claim the national championship.

This guy thinks we're past peak COVID-19 and should be back in school this fall - based on the viral data he's been studying, but says whether they have school or not is a political question.

This. Some people thought it was a big deal when Chicago State refused to travel to Seattle cause of this. But then it turned into a second school scheduled to play in Seattle doing the same, then turned into conference tournaments being gone, then the NCAAs being toast.

Here's my somewhat educated guess: no NCAA sports will be played in the fall.

I would definitely put the odds of having any kind of season in the fall at less than 50%, but I don't know anything. Just my feeling.

And not having a football season could be catastrophic for our athletic program.

He has been an interesting twitter follow the last few weeks. There are a few papers circulating that suggest herd immunity could be reached between 10 and 25 percent of a population depending on its characteristics, which he mentions in the interview. Most places are still a long ways from that, but some places aren't.

I still think there is some sort of season in the fall.

I hope you joking about that, there's a reason why the Silicone Valley ended up in San Jose, yes they are known for their academics. Feel free to bash the some of the Big West Cal State's but the schools you mentioned are no joke when it comes to academics. They don't allow just any schlub at San Jose State.

The Pac-12 may lead the way out west but try telling the SEC that they won't have football this fall. The Georgia governor waved a middle finger at everybody (including DJT) and opened his state. I expect a similar middle finger from the SEC.

The SEC and Big 12 aren’t going to skip football because San Jose State can’t play. The ACC and Big 10 might have a split.

No spring start, and for those touting a vaccine just remember that the flu vaccine was 45% effective last flu season. We don't need a vaccine in order for life to continue as normal. If you'd like, you can take Bill Gate's vaccine when it's ready.... :)
While true, the rate of recovery is significantly quicker in those who get the flu after getting the vaccine. Mortality rates are positively affected among those who get the vaccine as well.

The update from the state today says that almost all counties are moving from orange to yellow on May 16th which allows groups of up to 50, and team sports can be resumed, so will that allow the football team to start practicing again or is it up to the university? I’m not sure if they can even practice right now anyways.

I'm not placing my son in FB this year regardless of what gets lifted, we're going to do baseball instead. FB is just way too risky right now.

Don’t diss baseball because you probably weren’t good at it. It’s slow on tv during the regular season, but some of my favorite memories was playing little league up to high school with my best friends

As far as baseball itself, I was decent. However, I don’t like 18 sticks of gum (or a can of tobacco) in my mouth at one time, plus I don’t have jock itch, so the two things that baseball players love most don’t jive with me. No need to be so sensitive, everyone has their own interests. Glad you have such good memories!
