Where is Mariner?

Post by Blue Bull » April 25th, 2020, 12:00 pm

I read an article from a sports writer saying that he is 3rd round talent but he hasn’t promoted himself or is known only to those who may have noticed him from studying film on Love. His performance last season was more than impressive so I’m wondering what’s going on as well. Insights?

I think he'll get a call and join a team as an undrafted free agent.

That sports writer apparently is covering football for the first time ever, which is exciting for him/her. In reality, this is probably the deepest draft ever for receivers and Mariner doesn't have the top-end speed or the route running ability of most of the premier guys. He does have great hands, and I think he could make a scout team if he picks the right UDFA opportunity, but he likely isn't a playmaker at the next level.

I think Mariner is pretty underrated. Every team this year gameplaned for him and he still had a really strong year. He has similar speed to a Devante Adams. Not saying he will make at the next level but i think he was a great player in his year here.

Teams can only run so many go routes in a game. QBs don’t have the time to sit back in the pocket with the improvement of the edge rushing in the NFL. Mariner is a perfect short range receiver with how he uses his body and his catches in traffic.

Someone tell JLove to let his boss know about a receiver they could use!

The Raiders may have a problem with that.

Presumptuous and ill-informed.
