Green bay tagged loser of first round

Post by usu99 » April 24th, 2020, 10:02 am

Sucks that Green Bay is being picked as the first round loser. Not Jordan's fault just happened he was their selection vs somebody that is a help now pick.

Judging the draft in the moment is always a crap shoot. A few years from now it will be reevaluated. Then, and only then, should a draft grade be given.

Fans including us want instant results which of course is not the way to build a franchise.

Fans will always go for the flashy what can you do for me now pick. In my opinion first round picks should be geared towards building your team. In my opinion you generally build your team around QB's, OL and DL. You could also consider a lock down CB in that group.

While picking receivers, rb's etc. in the first round can prove to be effective I would generally choose other position groups in the first round. You can really find good skill players in the later rounds that can help your team be effective, as there is generally an abundance of those type of players in the draft.

Kind of funny but looking back at 2017 KC was considered the flop of the first round when they reached on a kid named Mahomes.

I am actually seeing a lot of sports sites giving the packers an “A” grade for the first round. I also see a lot of sights label Aaron Rodgers as a first round loser not the packers organization

That is pretty funny lookin mg back. Mahomes a C- grade and McCaffrey a D+ grade. You think Chiefs or Panther fans are regretting those picks now? Uh ......no. Packer front office is ecstatic and Packer fans will be happy about this pick someday.

They will be happy when Rodgers goes down and they actually have a guy that can come in and win games!

Yes, everyone hated the Seahawks 2012 draft.

If Kiper was a GM, he'd have been fired a long time ago.

He once said John Walsh was potentially the #1 pick, and a surefire first rounder. Went to the Bengals in the 7th round, never played a down in the NFL. I still remember that from a generation ago.

Well, most of the criticism I have read about Green Bay's draft has not been criticism of Jordan Love per se. Most of the comments about Love have been along the lines of, "Huge arm, incredible potential, but it will be good for him to sit behind Rodgers for a few years and learn how to make better decisions." That seems valid to me. The criticism I have read has been to the effect that Green Bay was a 13-3 team last year with a realistic shot at a Super Bowl, but Aaron Rodgers only has a few good years left. So Green Bay should be drafting to win now rather than investing in a player who won't see the field for a couple years. They also said that Rodgers apparently desperately wanted help at receiver this offseason and he probably won't be happy that the team drafted his replacement rather than a receiver. All of these concerns seem valid to me. On the other hand, others have pointed out that people said the same thing when the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers when Brett Favre was near the end of his career. Presumably the Packers thought that it's worth trading up for a potential stud QB who could help their team for the next decade or more rather than simply filling an immediate need for the next season or two. Let's hope Love turns out to be a stud and proves the Packers right.

Draft classes are no different than recruiting classes. You are always up beat and hoping for the best but more often than not you don't know what you have for about 3 years.
