I thought he was a senior? Must have gotten 1 year back and is on his way.

His Senior Night dunk was a moment that will stick with me for a long time. That was awesome. Best of luck!

Re: No surprise but Groot is gone
Looks like he let everyone run with the idea that he was finishing up just so he could start that last home game. Genius. Classic Groot move.
In all seriousness the guy was a great, supportive teammate when many would have pouted. I hope he finds a good landing spot where he can play out his senior year.

I hope he goes somewhere small and absolutely tears it up and is named all conference player! That would be AWESOME!!

Re: No surprise but Groot is gone
Apparently he had been planning this since high school - 'arranged' the injury to get a medical red-shirt, joined USU and endeared himself to the fans, culminating in his master plan to get a standing ovation on senior night.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 7:00 pmLooks like he let everyone run with the idea that he was finishing up just so he could start that last home game. Re: No surprise but Groot is gone
It was my understanding that Roche` qualified for a medical redshirt season and rather than tack on an extra year and remain the 11th guy off the bench here at Utah State, he chose to move on and use the redshirt to move on to another school where he could play more during his final season of collegiate eligibility.

Good move for him. He deserves to start for a WAC or WCC type team. Best wishes to him!

If face Porter and Groot next season, I will cheering on for the Aggies and both of those Aggies.

Well said. I hope we destroy their teams as they have banner individual performances.

Re: No surprise but Groot is gone
Joke was not lost on me... but... Smith doesn't buy into the start all seniors schtick and didn't start Groot on Senior night. First coach I've seen that doesn't buy into it.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 7:00 pmLooks like he let everyone run with the idea that he was finishing up just so he could start that last home game. Re: No surprise but Groot is gone
When other programs start to go through Groot's film they won't have a whole lot to look at, but he made sure to give them one awesomely explosive dunk to spark their interest! Best of luck to him!
