Which seed?
I'm thinking 9 or 10 seed. Before the game, we were barely-out or barely-in depending on which bracketology you looked at. So with a win to get the auto-bid against the 5th ranked team in the country and potential number 1 seed in the big dance, you have to think that we may have superseded an 11 or 12 seed. I guess we'll find out in about a week, but I'm thinking 9 or 10.

I'm guessing 10. I'd rather be an 11 than an 8 I think.

Re: Which seed?
7 would be ideal. Doubt that will happen. Next best thing would be a 10 with a favorable matchup.

Re: Which seed?
There is a chance we could play Marquette in either a 7-10 or 8-9 matchup....

Re: Which seed?
Also would they pair us up against a team we already played?
Because Florida, LSU, St. Marys, and maybe even BYU are all going to be in the possible seed range of 7-9.

Re: Which seed?
I believe last year we were a 8 seed. I would be interested in comparing last years resume to this years resume. Anyone have last years info? (Q1 record etc...) I couldn't find it.

Re: Which seed?
It's looking like the smaller conferences are going to fill the 22 12-16 slots. So don't look for USU to be a 12. And since conference champions are not selected to be in a play-in game, 4 of the 11 slots are filled. So did a win over SDSU (plus no more losses) move USU past the other 2 11 seeds. Probably so. Likely a 10, maybe slide in as a 9. Unless a boatload of upsets happen.

Re: Which seed?
Our resume is WAY better this year. We have beaten LSU, Florida, and SDSU. Last year, the only really good team we beat was Nevada. Plus SDSU was ranked higher than Nevada last year. Plus, we only have 1 more loss than last season.
I would not be surprised if we ended up getting an 8 seed because LSU and Florida could drop below us when comparing us with them since we beat them. And we didn't have Queta.

Re: Which seed?
Yuck. Resume seems better than last year. I’d hope for no worse than 10 but we shall see.
Got to love all the P5 teams limping to finish who will get better seeds

Re: Which seed?
8 or 9. I just dont' see USU in any other seeding.
usually, they give 8 or 9 seeds to bubble schools who just happen to win their conf. tournament. Rest assure, the committee will pair them up with a power 5 team like Texas Tech.
, if they win, they still have to face Kansas or Baylor.
i don't like your chances but good luck.

Re: Which seed?
They started using the play in games for bubble teams and 16 seeds a few years ago I thought.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 8:29 amThey'll put us in the play-in game whatever seed that turns out to be. Mark it!

No play-in games for auto-bids, except the 16s.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 8:29 amThey'll put us in the play-in game whatever seed that turns out to be. Mark it!

I would love this for the McEwen storyline, but also because Marquette is Charmin soft.ThunderAggie wrote: ↑March 7th, 2020, 9:15 pmThere is a chance we could play Marquette in either a 7-10 or 8-9 matchup....
Just doing the math on our NET ranking (which the committee followed pretty closely last year), we are a 10 seed. A 10 seed is our platonic ideal of realistic seeding possibilities. Right balance of winnable first game and possibility of a big round 2 win (I think we could beat most of the teams on the 2 line if the stars aligned).

Re: Which seed?
7/10 or 8/9 matchup seems to be where we’re headed.
Thing is we actually have some sweet Q1 wins against LSU, Florida, and SDSU(a 1 or 2 seed on top of that as well).. It’s just those catastrophic losses and choke jobs we suffered that’s going to even things out a little bit. Either way I’m just happy to see our name called on Selection Sunday!

Re: Which seed?
After the net ranking update, I'm thinking 10 or 11 maybe even 12, but if I was a betting man I'd probably say we will be 11 seed.

Re: Which seed?
Man, imagine we didn't have those choke jobs @ Boise and @ UNM we'd be sitting in the 6 range even with the 3 early Jan losses. I have watched Sam Merrill's shot this morning over 100 times.

Re: Which seed?
I’m guessing a 10-12 seed. I firmly believe that we were not going to an invite to the tournament without the win yesterday.

Q1
uhh, USU won't get the 11 seed because they were good enough to get a at large invite even if they didn't win the MWC tournament. This is a clear cut 8/9 line
10-11-12 seeds are usually reserved for at large bids, and extremely rare for an auto bid. The only way that would happen for an auto bid on the 10/11/12 spot is, a team has a good amount of Q1 wins but isn't good enough for an at large bid due to too many losses(a bid stealer who has multiple Q1 upsets).
Automatic bids are usually reserved for 8(bubble team auto bid) 14/15/16(low major auto bids). the 13 seed is reserved for the best mid major team that needed to win the conf. tournament to get in.
i get that the ncaa tournament is new to USU fans here so i'm just here trying to help how the committee determine criteria.
tldlr;l;asdr; USU will get the 8 seed and will play a power 5 at large opponent(9 seed) in the first round.
