Teams to root for (resume building)

Post by OrangeCountyAggie » February 12th, 2020, 8:42 pm

According to the NCAA:

Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75
Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135
Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240
Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353

So, if the Aggies win out in the regular season, their resume would have:

Good Wins
Quad One - 2 (LSU, Florida)
Quad Two - 2 (CSU, N.Texas) +5 Possible (see below)

Bad Loses
Quad Two - 1 (Bosie)
Quad Three - 1 (AF)

In order to pick up more good wins:

Florida - Current ranking 44, needs to stay under 50 (to keep Q1 win)
UNLV - Current ranking 142, needs to get to 135 (Q2 road win).
Nevada - Current ranking 86, needs to stay under 100 (Q2 neutral win - if we meet in the tourney).
New Mexico - Current ranking 138, needs to get to 135 (Q2 road win) and/or 100 (Q2 neutral win - if we meet in the tourney).
South Florida - Current ranking 113, needs to get to 100 (Q2 neutral win).

Miracle Scenario:
We beat SDSU in the tourney final.
Air Force goes on a tear and somehow moves up from 208 to 135 (without beating us in the tourney).

You omitted the Q3 loss to UNLV. If they get to 135 it would be Q2. I'm assuming that if we meet in the tourney it would be considered a road game since it's on their home floor.

Their one game last year was treated as a home game on the net sheet http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2019/ ... ?team=UNLV

Damn So. Florida! I watched that entire game last night versus Houston and they had every opportunity to win it in the final minutes and couldn't hit a FT to save their life. They missed 4 in the last minute alone and ended up losing by that same margin. That would have been a nice Q1 win for them.

They have so many close losses this season (including against the Aggies), at some point you would think they have got to end up on the winning side.

Are Q2 losses really considered bad for the resume?

South Florida, UNLV, & Fresno have really hurt us with some close losses this season.

No. Q3 and Q4 losses hurt. If UNLV could get up to Q2 then it would help us quite a bit.
