Can USU pull off the miracle this Saturday against #1 ranked SDSU?
Can USU pull off the miracle this Saturday against #1 ranked SDSU?
This is a big game for USU because beating the #1 ranked team in the country at their home floor puts them back in that bubble discussion or perhaps a good seeding in the NIT.
I really don't like their chances. Since school started a few days ago, the student section will officially be back(and you know how loud it gets when the show is there). On top of Kawhi Leonard's jersey being retired. This is probably the biggest game in Viejas history in terms of prestige. Not only will kawhi leonard's jersey be retired; they are also coming in at 22-0 #1 ranked team in the country so that adds a lot of momentum.
if San Jose St can almost do it, USU does have a good shot at beating #1 at their home floor.

btw. Lunardi has USU "next 4 out" in his bracketology bubble.
Beating #1 SDSU @ their home floor will most certainly get them an at-large (presuming they avoid the land mine games going forward)

My favorite thing about when this fan of #1 ranked SDSU comes to visit is the insight he gives into #1 ranked SDSU. Thanks to him we know what a privilege it will be to beat #1 ranked SDSU and how great we should feel about even the remote possibility that we could beat #1 ranked SDSU. I'm so grateful that this fan of the #1 ranked team in the country took time away from the #1 ranked SDSU board to come here and share these precious insights.

There's no need to overly exaggerate what i said.BigBlueDart wrote: ↑January 31st, 2020, 3:16 pmMy favorite thing about when this fan of #1 ranked SDSU comes to visit is the insight he gives into #1 ranked SDSU. I mentioned that because knocking out the #1 team in the country at their home floor is a monumental win and something the committee will take into consideration. Not as a way to subtly brag and rub it in.

Let me get this straight. There is no need to exaggerate. That is very helpful given the insight in your first post.SDSU wrote: ↑January 31st, 2020, 3:23 pmThere's no need to overly exaggerate what i said.BigBlueDart wrote: ↑January 31st, 2020, 3:16 pmMy favorite thing about when this fan of #1 ranked SDSU comes to visit is the insight he gives into #1 ranked SDSU. Did SDSU peek to early? Reminds me of last years Nevada.

So what is SDSU’s net ranking again?

Re: Can USU pull off the miracle this Saturday against #1 ranked SDSU?
Wait...Are you telling us that SDSU is ranked #1? Not just as in "we're #1", but in the "we are actually #1" sense? How can I know more about this #1 ranking? Should I be concerned? How can we get involved in this #1 ranking business? It seems like something we should look into. Has someone mentioned this to Coach Smith?
In all seriousness, a win this weekend would be absolutely amazing. I think it is a long-shot, but it is possible. That is part of what I love about college basketball. Anything can happen. All it takes is for one player to struggle or one player to go off.

Going back to the original poster's question: No we do not have a good shot of beating #1 SDSU on their home floor. Do we have a shot? Sure. But good? No, I would not say that we have a "good" shot of that. Point spread is 7.5...so we have about that much chance according to people who bet. Whatever that is worth.

I wouldn't count on it. They are so sound on defense that they can cover for a couple of poor shooting nights.

Oh please let it be like in football when we played another undefeated team at their home when we were huge underdogs and they retired Jim McMahon's number. I hope I didn't jinx it.

USU Is due to play a complete game, I give them a decent shot at pulling this off. They are finally all healthy and have been playing together for awhile.

Re: Can USU pull off the miracle this Saturday against #1 ranked SDSU?
i disagree. It will just be like any other SDSU game
it will be semi-close in the 1st half(2-6 pt lead for SDSU or USU is up by a few points). Then SDSU pulls away in the 2nd half.
2nd half SDSU is very dangerous because they put Flynn at PG and they step up the defense.
