Miller Breakout Game
Miller Breakout Game
It's crunch time for the season. If we're going to make any noise, we need a breakout game from Miller. He's too skilled as a player to stay in a slump. I think we get it tonight.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
I hope he has a great game - however, we don’t need him in order to make noise. We have at least three other played that if they stay on their trajectory will add more than he ever has

I don't really see how you can call it a slump at this point.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
"Too skilled a player?" Which player are you watching? I think your confusing "Miller" with "Merrill." If that's the case then yes, I agree Sam needs to have more breakout games, especially against SDSU.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
Do we think he misses that much in practice? There has to be a reason he’s getting pt. He needs a shot dr to coach him how to get his feet in place to shoot in rhythm and if he doesn’t do that bench him.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
He’s just not that good of a player. There’s no slump it’s just his ability level. Seems like a good kid but he’s a net negative.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
it is all psychological.
When he gets the unexpected opportunity in motion he makes it.
What makes it frustrating is he out there to shoot and finish the plays that are successfully executed for him to finish, only good news so far, is he is way overdue.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
I Didn’t think anyone had a bad game really, from top to bottom. Phonso def looks re-energized and Brito played better. Hopefully those makes from Miller will give him some confidence going forward as well.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
I have a really good view of our bench in the Spectrum. Porter's back must be WRECKED! They worked on his back literally every minute he wasn't on the floor. I feel bad for the kid. Can't imagine whats it's like to play D1 level ball with a bad back.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
That’s got to be in pretty few minutes too because he didn’t play enough to notice. I guess it helps the sense you get of the whole team with a blow out victory on the road, even against a bad team.utaggies wrote:Porter? 0 points. 2 TOs. 2 fouls. He’s filling up the stat sheet.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
Miller's break out game ended with his final 3 pt attempt sailing 1 foot wide left of the intended target. But his run of 3 made 3's in a row really shows how the team needs his contributions and how those contributions can create separation from the opponent in a hurry.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
Let's not get carried away. As I said, it was good to see him make a few, but it wasn't like he was lights out. He was 3-7, or 42%. If he could average 42% for the season, it would be great, but a 3-7 night isn't exactly newsworthy..... Unless you are a bad shooter.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
Agreed, but it was nice to see Miller taking better shots. I’m not sure I saw all seven attempts, but I don’t think he took any step back or overly contested shots. Similarly, I liked Brito slashing to the basket instead of settling for the three. Maybe they have both made positive adjustments?

It is. From what I’ve heard, if he doesn’t make it through the season it wouldn’t be a surprise.GordoAggie wrote: ↑January 29th, 2020, 6:39 amI have a really good view of our bench in the Spectrum. Re: Miller Breakout Game
Would it not make sense to have him sit for a while and try to nurse his back until tournament play? Or would it be too difficult to rest his body and get away from the contact, only to try and comeback to a very physical game?Intermeddler wrote: ↑January 30th, 2020, 12:40 amIt is. Sure would've been nice if RayQuan Evans would've come here instead of going to Florida State.

I bet he is happy that he chose Florida State especially considering the fact that he is getting less than 10 minutes of playing time per game as a Junior.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑January 30th, 2020, 9:40 amSeriously. Re: Miller Breakout Game
A sentiment that really only helps us feel better. He's getting less playing time than he'd like, sure, but he's on an amazing team. Sets him up really well for his senior year, so he can get some visibility and make a career out of basketball.Aggie in Boise wrote: ↑January 30th, 2020, 11:01 amI bet he is happy that he chose Florida State especially considering the fact that he is getting less than 10 minutes of playing time per game as a Junior.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑January 30th, 2020, 9:40 amSeriously. My Aggie-vision aside, I can't imagine that he has any regrets choosing Florida St over us.

Re: Miller Breakout Game
I don't imagine he regrets it either, I wish him success. I doubt he's going to see a huge jump in playing time, all those playing ahead of him, but one, are underclassmen. They could lose some folks, but that's tough to bank your starting time on.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑January 30th, 2020, 12:13 pmA sentiment that really only helps us feel better.
