Re: Are they trying to medical reshirt Kuba?
If my calculations are correct, he can play in 10 games and still be eligible for a medical redshirt. Right now he has played in 10 games so he should still be eligible. Seems weird to have him dress and warm-up if he's trying for a medical redshirt.

Maybe they want him on hand in case something happens that would require his assistance at a moment's notice.

I’ve had this same thought recently. I was wondering if this is the result of Queta expecting to be here next year. They want to keep Kuba around longer and offset his and Queta’s departure.

You also have to prove that the injury was season ending. If you have him ready at a moment's notice then it kind of hurts that argument.frankiesaysrelax wrote:Maybe they want him on hand in case something happens that would require his assistance at a moment's notice.

That, and the fact that he played in three games since the "injury", including 18 minutes in one of those games... But I'm not sure what the technicalities of the Medical Redshirt requirements say with regard to "Season Ending".ProvoAggie wrote: ↑January 29th, 2020, 12:08 pmYou also have to prove that the injury was season ending. He played and suffered internal bleeding which forced them to shut him down for the season. Easy enough to show it was season ending..treesap32 wrote:That, and the fact that he played in three games since the "injury", including 18 minutes in one of those games... I can't remember him playing any since the surgery. When he didn't get in the last minute of last night's game it really appeared to me that they are trying to redshirt him.

It's my understanding that Kuba is still trying to recover from his surgery. It's a very difficult recovery when literally every basketball move he makes he gets hit in the injured area.

Re: Are they trying to medical reshirt Kuba?
I had a sister that had appendicitis where the drs couldn’t diagnose it at first and it ruptured. I remember hearing they have to clean all those toxins out when it happens and it was very invasive surgery. She lost a ton of weight and was down for quite a while. His didn’t seem that serious but if it did rupture it can cause issues.

As mentioned before, he has played in three games since the surgery.
18 minutes vs. Eastern Washington
3 minutes vs. UNLV
1 minute vs. Air Force

I have heard from a decent source that he was originally in the doghouse and just quit trying altogether in practice so coach said fine if you’re not gonna try you’re not gonna play.

Is this the same source that said Queta was academically ineligible last semester?

Excellent question. Then if it IS the same source, we know with verity that it's reliable.sockpuppet wrote: ↑January 30th, 2020, 9:15 amIs this the same source that said Queta was academically ineligible last semester?

It is not, I never spread that rumor. From a former player that’s been talking with current guys.Real Life Aggie wrote:Excellent question. Re: Are they trying to medical reshirt Kuba?
That would really surprise me. Why would he quit trying? Is it because he is afraid to get re injured? Seemed like a competitor in his first few games and I had hopes he would turn out to be pretty good. If this is true, does that mean he could be gone next year?tysteve20 wrote: ↑January 30th, 2020, 12:32 pmIt is not, I never spread that rumor. Maybe he is protesting until his teammates stop bounce passing into the post.
