Just thought I'd ask for good vibes.....

Post by taniataylor » January 20th, 2020, 8:47 am

Jordan (Nathan) is having surgery to repair his shoulder (torn labrum from the Fresno St game) on Wednesday morning. Expect to see him back in June. He will start rehab 2-3 days after surgery and can start running 4-6 weeks after.

Please keep him in your thoughts.....thank you

Your boy must be tough as nails to have a torn labrum and still finish the last four games of the season with that. Here is to a speedy recovery for him the Aggies will for sure need his leadership and production next season. That was one of the greatest catches I've ever seen especially with the hit that was put on him.

He's pretty tough, it's me that's the cry baby......

They initially thought it was just a dislocation, but the soreness stuck around, he had an MRI last week and he needs surgery. On an average person, 4-6 month recovery time, athletes may be less. Coaches said even if he's back for spring ball, he will have no contact....no contact actually until the first game kicks-off

Sounds like they're expecting it to go fine with laparoscopy only + rehab. A relief.

After reading, there's a 90% success rate, he'll be fine, he came back in under 11 months after he broke his tibia and had 2 screws in his ankle....but he said he doesn't need me there.....so, just needing some thoughts and prayers and if you see him - make sure he's not lifting ANYTHING

Good luck to him! i've had labrum surgery. i tried to do something too soon and kind of messed it up more, just don't try to do too much!! it was feeling really good, and i tried to throw a softball with a full windup, so if he doesn't do that he'll be fine.

Did he injure it on that pass against Fresno State? That catch looked like it did something nasty to his shoulder.

Yes, initially, they thought it was a dislocation only, the team docs said it was a good sign that it didn't pop out of place again during the following games, but his MRI showed a tear, so in order to be ready to start next season, he has to have surgery now

my labrum made me feel like i did dislocate my shoulder. it would shift and it seemed, to me, that it would dislocate but it was just shifting in the socket!! crazy feeling.

I tore my labrum too and had it repaired a little over a year ago. In my experience you need to be careful about coming back to quickly. Like tipitup said you'll be feeling pretty good and think you're good and then try something you shouldn't...I did the same thing and had a setback in my recovery. Getting flexibility back is the trick, I was able to get the strength back fairly quickly once you are able to work out. I'm sure Jordan will get some great care and take care of it and be back like nothing happened by next season.

Good vibes from me and my family. When he made that catch, my wife (who won't even let our boys play football for reasons like that hit) commented over and over again "how did he hold on to the ball?!?!?!".
