With Stacy Collins back to the defense? Also, if I'm reading his timeline right, this is his first time having responsibility over the any part of the secondary. I also found it interesting that Caputo was going to coach the Tight Ends.

I agree. It seems that Caputo's strength is in the secondary. But maybe having a defensive minded coach working with the offense can teach what to look for.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 7:22 amWith Stacy Collins back to the defense? The Dread Pirate Roberts leaves no survivors.

Re: So who will run Special Teams?
Stacy Collins is a seasoned coach, I wouldn't be too concerned about him coaching what will probably turn out to be the safeties. Did anyone feel like the running backs sucked last year? I didn't and that tells me that Coach Collins did a good job with them. He will put in the work to make his position group successful. I also think that Coach Collins will still probably head up the special teams work but it might be broken down into committees and each position coach will take a role of sort. UNLESS the next assistant that is hired is a special teams/running backs guy. If I remember correctly, Tommerdahl filled these two spots for a year.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 7:22 amWith Stacy Collins back to the defense? Re: So who will run Special Teams?
I didn't think the safeties played very well last season. Troy Lefeged spent a lot of time missing tackles and Shaq Bond spent a lot of time chasing them down. That being said, Mike Caputo was hired because of the recommendation of Dave Aranda, so there has to be something there. In my book, Dave Aranda has earned the benefit of the doubt. I think it's too early to sh!t can a young coach like Caputo and it's already been said that tight ends are one of the simpler position groups to coach so rather than give up on him, I'm okay with Coach Andersen moving him over. It's a veteran group, let's see what happens.DreadPirateRoberts wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 7:28 amI agree. It seems that Caputo's strength is in the secondary. The new guy may need to be a special teams/running back/fullback guy!

I thought Gary preferred running one coach short to use the money for the rest of the staff?

From today's press conference, it sounds like special teams responsibilities will be split up.

Is there a link? I couldn't find it but that wouldn't be unusual for me.BustaMcNutt wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 12:11 pmFrom today's press conference, it sounds like special teams responsibilities will be split up.

I just saw 4 takeaways from Matt Glade's twitter. 1-We're officially going back to the 3 man front. 2-We'll slow the pace on offense. 3-Special teams will be split up. 4-QB race is wide open.

On 2, I read it as they would have variable pace on offense.BustaMcNutt wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 12:41 pmI just saw 4 takeaways from Matt Glade's twitter. 1-We're officially going back to the 3 man front. 2-We'll slow the pace on offense. 3-Special teams will be split up. 4-QB race is wide open.

Re: So who will run Special Teams?
To me it sounded like it would be split up but there would still be one coach that is the Special Teams Coordinator. I would think that it might be Ena, that would soften the blow from not being the DC and he was the over special teams at Utah when Utah's Special teams was really good.BustaMcNutt wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 12:11 pmFrom today's press conference, it sounds like special teams responsibilities will be split up.
