Jaycee Carroll

Post by GUS » January 7th, 2020, 12:38 pm

Just saw a tweet that Jaycee told Real Madrid that he will retire after this season. I know he just finished his house in Mt. Sterling, guess he wants to live in it full time.

His family is living here now and I think they are ready for the next stage of life. Good for them.

Will we retire his number soon? He became our all-time points scorer 12 years ago.

Good for him. Time to reap the rewards of his hard work and make lots of baby Jaycees to play for the Aggies some day. May he father 10 boys.

He just built a huge house in Hyrum/Wellsville. It was in the parade of homes this last year.

So their last game is May 10?
Put him on the Jazz for a few clutch 3s in the Western Conference Finals and NBA Finals.

That would be AWESOME!!!

Don't think they would ever take him though. He is super old for basketball standards. Carroll is 36! He would be the 5th oldest player in the league...

Can you imagine Jaycee playing against some guy in wranglers?

I mean, Jaycee is from Evanston. Plus, he's moving to Wellsville now. The longer he stays there, the greater the likelihood he ends up in them himself.

Forget the Jazz, is there any chance we could get him a 5th year of eligibility to play for the Aggies? We desperately need a scorer.

Of course not, but there's this 36-year old prospect, Casey Jarroll, we should go after. Totally different guy.

With all the money he has made I would imagine he is a big donor to USU.

I've never heard of many of the "big money" professional athletes donating much to the programs.

I think a lot of the top athletes at schools like Utah State (where they don’t get paid like the bigger schools) feel like they “gave at the door” through their blood, sweat, and tears during their time at said college. And I don’t blame them. I don’t give back to the U of U for my graduate degree because I feel like I already sacrificed enough with my tuition, time, and countless hours of studying. I could see Jaycee down the road being a donor with the money he makes through his ranching.

That's interesting...I don't donate to good old Willamette University, where I got my graduate degree, either. I donate to USU though. Never really thought about it before.

No, but I can imagine him playing in wranglers. He wore plenty of them and a cowboy hat around campus when he first arrived as a freshman. My cousin was on the tennis team at the time and he told me a story about sitting in some sort of meeting or event with other freshmen athletes and the presenter asking which athletes felt like they would go professional in their sport. He said some skinny kid with a cowboy hat and wranglers stood up and everyone kind of snickered. Little did they know.

I hope student-athletes don't feel that way after having a 4 year degree fully paid for by generous boosters and fans to play a game. That makes them sound ungrateful and quite selfish. As a small donor to the BBSF, I sincerely hope that isn't the case.

I don’t know him but our time in Logan overlapped, guy is no stranger to Wranglers and a 10 gallon hat.

Let me say this people that have gone thru school as a scholarship player in sports do quite well, I mean books, tuition, room and board, tutors, living stipends, they get all that to play a sport they love, and if that experience led them to make big money as a result. I know I would give back.

I would hope that anyone that gets a quality education would help the school they went to after all what you pay is only a fraction of what it costs to educate you.

I want you folks to understand that I have no idea what Jaycee does or does not do because some folks do not want it known, so I'm not saying anything about him, however many do not help their school at all, be they former players or just students.

Student athletes that do it right can be set up for so much success due to their athletic scholarship. Get a degree without having to go into any or at least not much debt. I would hope recent players that are successful in their careers would want to give back to the school that gave them such great opportunities.

I give back to both of the universities that I attended. I was a recipient of scholarships at both institutions and give back to provide others the same opportunity that I was granted. I plan to continue to do so until I die.
