Any word on Queta or Kuba?

Post by Mr. Sneelock » December 27th, 2019, 10:26 am

Anyone know anything about the Queta re-injury? Anything serious? We could really use him for conference play. Also, when do we expect Kuba back?

Kuba’s return window, according to Coach Smith, was Dec. 17th to Jan. 7th. We are right in the middle of that window today.

Per Coach Smith: Nothing serious on Neemias Queta's knee, "Will PROBABLY NOT play tomorrow & will be evaluated soon." Kuba, has dressed the last 3 games, he will be evaluated very soon as well.

I expect Kuba to start playing soon but he’ll have to ease into it. It’s a minor surgery but boy, does it mess with your lung capacity

Will respond whenever you ask what the band is doing

This is true. I imagine he will play in 2-3 minute spurts to get him back into shape.

I heard they got in trouble for playing him before grades were released for the semester. They have now imposed self-sanctions in the hope we don't have to vacate our second place finish in the Frisco Bowl.

Kuba moves very well and has really good hands for a big man.

His pass to fellow 7 footer Dorius or a nice dunk was a thing of beauty!

That was cool seeing both 7 footers in at the same time. I’m sure there is some defensive weaknesses on the perimeter that way but everything was completely shutdown inside.

Bummer for stall not being there. Sure he'd have played. Roche had career minutes and points I'm sure.

I get the feeling that Stall is in his last year here. Not being there in a game that he could play gives that impression. Stall overcoming injuries :thanks:

The question is why are they not back in Logan? Other redshirts are in Logan. I think Stall might be hurt again?

I’ve never heard of players not being back in town for a game, even if it is against the crappiest of teams.

With McChesney already redshirting it isn't really a big deal since he wouldn't play in any case. With him traveling out of the country it may have been nice for him to have the few extra days.

Very odd to not have Stall though...where's home? Arizona still? I suppose its possible he had a family function or wedding or something that conflicted?

Mcchesney lives a long ways away in North West british columbia. I imagine when he went home for Christmas the coaching staff told him he could stay a couple extra days especially since he's redshirting I'm sure he'll be back and on the road trip to UNLV.

Even if Queta moves on, we still have a lot of capable post players coming back on the roster next year (plus the addition of Nigel John). I could see Stall moving on.

We need another guy who can play the 1 and 2 spots, especially if Abel is done as predicted. The back court next year is going to be basically Miller, Bairstow and a bunch of new guys. Still could be another good year though if pieces come together.

Anyone have info on Queta’s availability for tonights game or Saturday’s game? It sounded like he was available for the EO game but not needed so he didn’t play just like Sam. That would indicate he would be available for tonight’s game though hopefully. I would assume Kuba is 100% ready to go as well. It will be nice to get the whole team back together.

I heard Kuba had a relapse of his appendicitis and then Queta caught it from him when they were sitting next to each other on the bus and they both might be out for another week.
