Re: New offer BIG WR
I guess Nebraska wanted to turn him into a tight end. Didn't like that and parked himself in the Florida JC.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I wonder if he has 3 years to play 2 by going the J C route after turning down the Corn huskers.

He does a very good job of high pointing the ball and catching it with his hands. I didn't see any that he let get into his body.

Re: New offer BIG WR
Past experience has jaded me. When I see a big JC WR not being courted by p5 programs my mind automatically goes to Dwayne Lorick, Alex Wheat, Sean Carter, etc.

Whaaat???? Alex Wheat was a practice All-American. If only coach had put him in during the fourth quarter, we would have won a Mountain West Championship.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 7:09 pmPast experience has jaded me. Oh you didn't hear? Alex Wheat was coveted by every program in the country but there was a dumb rule with his grades so he had to settle for USU. I would be happy for him to join the team. Good players like this just feed off if each other.

Brandon Swindall wasn’t a junior college guy. Matt Austin was “only” 6’2”.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 10:00 pmYour memory “swindalled” you out of a great player! Matt Austin sure played big even if he wasn’t 6’6”.
But sometimes I look in the past and remember things as better than they were.

Re: New offer BIG WR
Matt Austin is one of my favorite Aggies in the last 20 years. We haven't had a wide receiver that can Hi-Point the ball better than him that I can remember.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 10:18 pmTrue My eyes must have skipped the jc part.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 10:07 pmBrandon Swindall wasn’t a junior college guy. I'll choose to ignore those failures and remember Matt Austin, Chuck Jacobs, Ronald Butler, Ron'Quavion Tarver, and Aaren Vaughans. We need a guy to go up and get the contested balls. I don't think the p5 thing is the distinguishing factor.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 10:07 pmBrandon Swindall wasn’t a junior college guy. Re: New offer BIG WR
Tarver is the only one of those guys I’d remotely put in the category I’m talking about with respect to size and coming from a JC. He was only 6’3” though. I’ve kind of felt his circumstances were unique, but yes he is an example of a huge success.Madmartigan wrote: ↑December 18th, 2019, 7:44 amI'll choose to ignore those failures and remember Matt Austin, Chuck Jacobs, Ronald Butler, Ron'Quavion Tarver, and Aaren Vaughans. This new recruit is an early qualifier though like tarver so maybe that’s the reason he didn’t pick up the bigger offers yet.

So, back to Mcgriff. I really do hope we land him. And I think it actually looks like we're going to.
