Re: Jordan Love & Gerold Bright busted for smoking weed
I am amazed at how out of touch so many people are. They have no idea how many people smoke a little pot. I'm just really happy they did not get caught drinking coffee. Can you imagine!!!! Who cares???????????????????????????????????????Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 12:53 pmNope. Let them play in the bowl game. I certainly hope you never ever break the speed limit or use your phone while driving. Those are infinitely more dangerous to others than weed and are both illegal. If you have, I hope you are punished to the fullest.Cheecho6 wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 12:39 pmRegardless of how you feel about the drug, if it’s a team rule to not do it and they broke team rules does that change your opinion about whether or not they should play? No player(s) should be bigger than the program.Roy McAvoy wrote:Meh. These guys just finished up finals and their college careers. They’ve put in so much work and taken a beating on their bodies for the Aggies.Cheecho6 wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 12:25 pmWhatever your options are about marijuana the fact remains that it is illegal in Utah. Spare me the argument that it doesn’t matter because it’s legal in other states.
Yes, they are college kids, but that also doesn’t excuse this. I expect kids in our program to have better judgement. Especially leaders like Love and Bright.

Let them have a few celebratory puffs at the end of great careers. I won’t come down on them for it.

The guy just finished finals week (and I think is graduating). Cache Valley is awful in its enforcement. It's not even the officers (the worst ones "retired" from North Logan/Hyde Park Police..) Mostly it's the politicians (Judge Marx)
I like Captain Budge, I honestly don't think he cares if college students are smoking weed in an apartment after finals. But the politics of this valley really ruin our reputation.
Marijuana laws should be used to go after kingpins and cartels- not this. This zero tolerance policy is not intelligent.

I'm starting to hear there is less to this story than what is being reported. Expect this to end up being fought in court.

Re: Jordan Love & Gerold Bright busted for smoking weed
Granted, if they were caught smoking marijuana in their room, as opposed to say, snorting lines in a Logan High bathroom, there is not a whole lot to look at here, except that it's still a violation of a law and team rules, and which all players know about, are told about, are instructed about and agree not to violate, especially during the season. It's drilled in from day one. It puts their coaches and school in a tough position, draws attention away from the bowl game and their team, and, like it or not, may affect their ability to play on Sundays. It shows poor judgment. It's a violation of the law. What Colorado allows its citizens to snort, inject or chew is irrelevant. However, having momentary poor judgment is another way of saying they made a mistake, and the mistake, admittedly, is not a grave one. Hopefully, it will not be elevated beyond what it really is.

Re: Jordan Love & Gerold Bright busted for smoking weed
Hopefully they just get it taken care of if it was minor and those involved do whatever they need to get justice and then move on. I don't want this to blow up and effect Love's draft stock. I do not know him but have heard and can tell he is a good guy. Do not want this to change the way me or anyone else views Love. Stinks that it is right at the end of his career and right after declaring for the draft. I get its a story but I hate how the news does this. It should be kept more confidential and not publicized.

It's against the law to go 11 mph over the speed limit also. Would you advocate keeping them out of the bowl game for getting a speeding ticket too?Cheecho6 wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 12:25 pmWhatever your options are about marijuana the fact remains that it is illegal in Utah. I hope GA keeps them out of the bowl game. Expectations and consequences are more important for the future success of our program.

Re: Jordan Love & Gerold Bright busted for smoking weed
It's been known in this valley that if one person is smoking it, the whole group gets charged. Not saying that's the case here but I wouldn't be surprised to see some charges dropped.

Ding ding ding. Alcohol should be the thing that is illegal. Weed should be an option for pain relief and to help players put on weight when they need to bulk up.MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 1:23 pmI'd rather my players be smoking weed than getting drunk, and it's not really close

Drunk = thinking your fine = fights = driving = jail

I think most of you are missing the point. The point isn't that alcohol is worse or smoking a joint is no big deal and laws need to change. All those things can be true, AND at the same time, acknowledge they used poor judgement. And as long as those rules exist, as stupid as they may be, are in place, they should be followed.
