Re: Where will our bowl game be?
Whoever voted “none” apparently can’t do math. We’re guaranteed a bowl just based on numbers right now I think.
My guess is we’ll be playing in the granddaddy of ‘em all — the Potato Bowl.
It’ll be a shame, because, IMO, teams we beat like Nevada, Wyoming, and SDSU should be the ones relegated to the Potato Bowl.

I am thinking AZ! Love would do well in that one, he does really well in warm weather. Love is a good hype point, nationally people have heard of him.

not 100 percent sure, but i think the payout of the Potato Bowl is quite a bit higher than the AZ bowl. Does that matter?

Re: Where will our bowl game be?
You are exactly right, we are guaranteed a bowl. We will be the 4th choice. Boise, AF and Hawaii will be the first 3 choices. Since we have 7 wins and are 6-2 in conference (which is next best after AF) we are guaranteed a bowl even if other members of the MW are not invited..ineptimusprime wrote: ↑November 30th, 2019, 5:52 pmWhoever voted “none” apparently can’t do math. Hawaii will most likely play in the Hawaii bowl.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑November 30th, 2019, 7:00 pmYou are exactly right, we are guaranteed a bowl. We will be the 4th choice. I would also think that AF would be great for the Armed forces bowl.

Re: Where will our bowl game be?
The more I think about it, at 6-2 in conference (overall third place), it seems unlikely we “fall” to the Arizona Bowl, right? They get the last pick of all MW bowls, and the New Mexico and Boise have better payouts.
It’s total BS that Hawaii would get the LV bowl over AFA and us if Boise goes to the Cotton. We both have better conference records in the tougher division.
I think it’ll be Potato, Cheez-it, or Frisco, unless ESPN swaps bowls.

They Mountain West doesn't have a picking order anymore.. They try and place teams where they think they'll do best.ineptimusprime wrote:The more I think about it, at 6-2 in conference (overall third place), it seems unlikely we “fall” to the Arizona Bowl, right? We going to the potato, haven’t been there in 6 years, didn’t play in Boise this year. Only bowl that makes sense.

Re: Where will our bowl game be?
I think it's important to look at conference options in trying to figure this out.
Las Vegas: Boise
Hawaii: Hawaii
Armed Forces (Fort Worth): Air Force
Potato: Nevada or USU
New Mexico: Wyoming
Arizona: Nevada or USU
Cheez it Bowl (Pac 12 fill in, in Phoenix): SDSU
Sadly, I think SDSU just punched their ticket to the Cheez it bowl with their win over BYU. Had we beaten BYU or been really good against Boise I think that could've been our spot.
I think we're either going to the Potato or the Arizona bowl.

Re: Where will our bowl game be?
ESPN does not list the Arizona Bowl on its bowl game calendar. It does list other non-ESPN games, but the Arizona Bowl is not listed.
I would be happy with either the Arizona Bowl or the Potato Bowl because of their timing being after Christmas. Teams are allowed up to 15 extra practices if they go to a bowl game, but many of the pre-Christmas games do not give enough time for teams to take full advantage of the additional practices. USU could take full advantage of the 15 extra practices with either of the Arizona or Potato bowls.

We beat SDSU and had a better in-conference record against a tougher slate. That has to count for something, right?Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑December 1st, 2019, 10:13 amI think it's important to look at conference options in trying to figure this out.

We have Jordan Love and SDSU is boring as hell to watch. That also has to count for something, right?
The Potato Bowl is just such a downer — I want to at least hope we could be going somewhere else...

Re: Where will our bowl game be?
I completely agree. I’m just trying to look at it objectively. I think they’d rather take SDSU who has a bigger brand name in football and fan base. They’d probably sell more tickets.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑December 1st, 2019, 10:45 amWe beat SDSU and had a better in-conference record against a tougher slate. I don’t think it’s guaranteed though. I think we still have an outside chance at it.

I don't know how much stock to put in all of these Bowl projections from different sites. Selfishly I'm hoping it's in Arizona just because the weather will be a lot warmer. But if it is the potato I will certainly be there cheering on the Aggies with my kids.

Re: Where will our bowl game be?
With the way thre ESPN has their hands in the bowl games I don't think you can put much stock into the supposed pecking order. They are out to maximize viewership. I could see a MW team going to a non-MW tie in bowl.
I'd also prefer drubbing a MAC team in Boise over getting drubbed by a P5 team
