K State going 0-5, 3-2, 4-1, or 5-0 in the next five along with Wells going 1-3 or 2-2 in the next four puts us in the position to cheer for K State against him.
And those scenarios have nothing to do with fans or Wells being our former coach.

Re: Matt Wells
I just feel like we want as few bowl eligible teams as possible to free up bowl slots. Rather the bowl slot is for us or for Boise to free up Vegas for us or someone else. And if we drop a few, we may need the bowl slots freed up for teams from our conference to leave the Potato or Arizona for us.dyedblue wrote: ↑October 18th, 2019, 9:05 pmTell us how you really feelGameFAQSAggie wrote:All I can say is

Re: Matt Wells
To be honest, I did have to look up Texas Tech and Kansas State's schedules to know the scenarios. I can however say from memory that two years ago, when we were wanting Texas to beat 5-6 Texas Tech to free up a bowl slot, the Longhorns disappointed and Tech won for number 6 to take a bowl slot. And the last two years, the Duke VS. Wake Forest game disappointed cause of another bowl slot getting taken. Last year, it was 5-6 Wake Forest we were wanting to lose to already eligible Duke to free up a slot, and Wake won. Two years ago, it was the reverse with us wanting 5-6 Duke to lose to already eligible Wake to free up a slot, and Duke won. The other things I can remember from the final Saturday last year include being happy about Florida State losing to Florida, Notre Dame beating USC, and Arizona losing to Arizona State. While being unhappy with Minnesota beating Wisconsin.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑October 19th, 2019, 12:42 am$20 says he did that all from memory and didn’t have to look anything up.dyedblue wrote:Tell us how you really feelGameFAQSAggie wrote:All I can say is

As for two years ago, the other thing I can remember was not wanting Georgia Tech to beat Georgia for #6 then being happy it didn't happen.

Wells lost another one possession game this weekend to TCU.
4-6 and looks like they aren’t getting bowl eligible.

Matt's probably not too worried. He's probably just enjoying the money. As Tim Miles once stated "If they fire me, they're still going to pay me. I'm still a millionaire, so I've got that going for me."

I look at his record they're very differently. It is a well-known fact that they did not recruit well before Matt Wells.
I think his team is very thin on Talent. And yet somehow they've been able to be competitive and games that they had no right even being in.
That is an extremely tough League with very good coaching.
It seems like he has that moving in the right direction to me.

As bad as Andersen has been historically, Wells is catastrophically worse and that has played out in Lubbock.

Oh I am very happy we beat Fresno and Wyoming. That winning win was hard fought and a season saver. I just don’t see the point in relishing the plight of a former coach that means nothing to us - especially when we are not far from suffering the same fate.aggies22 wrote:We don't hold the Boise State and New Mexico games against Craig Smith do we? Re: Matt Wells
I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but please explain why/how it is good for everyone if Matt is successful in the Big 12. Wouldn't his success simply encourage other coaches to use USU as a stepping stone? People love to follow successful precedents when making career decisions. The more often coaches leave USU and fail elsewhere, it seems the less likely it is other coaches will try to follow in their footsteps.

Re: Matt Wells
I don't really care much about how Wells does or does not do. I am in the camp that the Aggies immediately went down hill in performance after Gary left (which could have been a regression to the mean situation -- but seemed to have a lot to do with reduced on-the-field effort under Wells compared to GA), but thought Wells redeemed himself in his final season (which could have been a result of great coordinator hires).MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑November 19th, 2019, 8:12 amI look at his record they're very differently. That said, here are the Texas Tech winning percentages for four seasons before Wells's arrival:
.538
.417
.462
.417
Here is Texas Tech's winning percentage under Wells this season:
.400
Wells may have things moving in the right direction, but that is not reflected in this season's record.

It's more like having a girlfriend leave you for a guy cause he has more money. I don’t really understand why Gary is so loved and Matt is so hated. They both do things that drive me bananas, but both are good (not great) football coaches.
#1: Matt had an ability to be condescending to people and arrogant. That rubbed people the wrong way. It also seemed evident he played favorites with different kids on the team and that bugged people too. Take the example from Saturday's game when he's on camera just chewing his D coordinator act and treating him like he's an idiot.
#2: A lot of players also didn't like Wells. That was no secret. I think he got a lot better at this his last two years. But for the first couple years he was quite a jerk to a lot of kids. It got a point current players would tell certain recruits on visits to not come here. Ask Tania on here about which coaching staff the kids like more.
#3: Yes, Wells left for a better job and more money and we all would've done the same. That doesn't change the fact that he still did it. If some female leaves you for a better looking man with more money, does it make it hurt any less?
#4: Examples like this tweet right here from Jaylen Warren's dad. These type of things seemed like a regular occurrence.

I wish Matt Wells well because he is a former Aggie.
I think he accepted a job that is not doable (in the way his new school wants), but he 's getting paid a lot of money to take the associated punches. It's a good gig if one can get it. JMO
