We Miss YOST so much!!!
Plain and Simple, no matter how you look at it, Love flourished under Yost! Sanford is just lacking in creativity on offense. Granted, we also very much so miss Tarver, Thompson, Raymond and Greene. Those guys went after the ball! Our receivers wait for the ball instead of going after it. Love's lack of interceptions last year was because our studs we lost went after the ball when needed! Love is still throwing a good long ball. I blame Sanford for Love's picks! Those slant throws should not be even called only when the opposing DB's are slow and not so good! I knew we would miss Yost!
Look what Yost did today against a ranked Oklahoma State- 45-35 for Texas Tech. Wells wised up this week and put the QB that should have been in last week. The QB Duffey threw for 424 yards and 4 touchdown's! Yost's system works. Gary needs to evaluate our offense, it hast't looked good so far. Stoney brook doesn't count! CSU was won because of Bright!
I am worried about Love not really caring for Sanford!

Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
Good points, but you have to keep in mind that Stanford is trying to come in and mimic Yosts's offense, rather than his own. I think it's pretty hard to come in and try to copy someone that isn't you and do just as well as them doing it. It might be worth considering that he will make tweaks and maybe try his own offense in the future, and may need more time to see what he can do. Other than that I think you are right about everything you are saying here.

I agree with this. I think we need to slow it down. Seems like this type of offense is not a strength for Sanford.sdiggety wrote: ↑October 5th, 2019, 2:51 pmGood points, but you have to keep in mind that Stanford is trying to come in and mimic Yosts's offense, rather than his own. Yost is a special coach, but he ain't coming back. Neither is Aranda or Orlando. I didn't expect much today. This was the definition of a body bag game. LSU might be the best team in the country. Let's see what our coaches can do the rest of the way. Every game from here on out is winnable.

Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
The biggest disappointment today was the coaching staff as a whole. This was not a prepared team, and certainly not one that was playing to win. The entire game plan to drop 8 and 9 on D was going to do nothing but bleed our D dry with 10-20 yard gains all day. One of the most frustrating things is the lack of adjustments and lack of mixing things up. The very few times we sent pressure it rattled Burrow, but when you give him 3 downs to stand around and watch WRs run routes for 8-10 seconds he'll eventually pick you apart - even average QBs will do that.
The play calling on O has been a huge ??? all year so far. I'm not sure what we are doing on that side of the ball but running up the gut on 1st and 2nd down followed by a long out route or piss poor RB screen on 3rd and long is not cutting it.
It's sad when the D delivers the ball to the 5 yard line for O and no one has the confidence in this coaching staff to call or design a play to score on 3 or 4 downs from there. That set the tone for the game and it only went down hill from there.

It would help if he expanded the playbook to include more than four or five plays.GoldcoastAggie wrote: ↑October 5th, 2019, 2:54 pmI agree with this. I think we need to slow it down. I hat I heard time and time again is that they would be using Sanford’s offense but using the same terminology Yost had.sdiggety wrote:Good points, but you have to keep in mind that Stanford is trying to come in and mimic Yosts's offense, rather than his own. Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
I would not necessarily blame Sanford as much as the heat. The further the game went on, the worst we played. When your body is not used to 96 degrees with 90 percent humidity. It takes it out of you REALLY fast. Maybe even worse than an altitude change.....but that is debatable. It takes weeks to adjust to that type of temperature and humidity.
I have faced that many times.

and SDSU was a great defense, Wake we were trying to force them to use timeouts, CSU was the weather, LSU was the heat... damn that’s a lot of excuses.

Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
The rest of the schedule is much easier. With a bye, I think we figure some things out on offense. I’m not ready to panic yet considering we didn’t have Warren today.

Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
LSU is just an elite team. Probably the best team we have played in a generation. Sanford is no Yost. Yost is an elite coordinator, but let's see how the season played out. We are still 2-0 in conference and should be 3-0 after beating Nevada at home. Still al ot to look forward to this year.

Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
If Yost called the game today it would have been even worse. That guy loved to go side to side and that is LSUs strength. I’d don’t think it had anything to do with play calls today. That team could easily win the national championship. Vanderbilt put up most their points against 2nd and 3rd stringers at the start of the second half. Also they had two weeks to prepare and had guys come back. Everyone needs to step back from the ledge. It sucked watching but I don’t think last years team does a whole lot better.

I'm actually really smart, probably smarter than you are so if you disagree with what I have stated in this post, you are likely wrong (and dumb).

Yosts offense looked pretty awful against CSU, Wyoming and BSU last year.

Defenses that man up and get pressure with fewer guys give us a lot of trouble. That defense we played today is San Diego and Wyoming’s love child that grew up eating steroids daily.

Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
We need to calm down and remember that this LSU defense will probably have 10 guys playing in the NFL the next few years, with 8-9 being drafted in rounds 1-2. How many future NFL players do we have on offense? Probably 1. And that 1 can't block and catch. Tough game, we could have played better, 'should' have played better but we didn't. We aren't BYU and our goal for the season, to win the MWC, is still intact. That should be our goal every year because it is the highest goal that we can control.

Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
When you're completely worked over in your blocking schemes running north and south and the opponents' team speed is especially superior running east and west, it leaves you with few choices in your play call options in the run game. Secondly when you throw a deep ball and the dbs out play your receivers in position and speed to the ball, it screws over your choices in the passing game.
The Aggies just were completely overwhelmed by superior talent in critical areas.

Re: We Miss YOST so much!!!
OH NO WE DONT MISS YOST!
Yost's 1st yr, nada....
Yost's 2nd year, high production, low competition...you gotta ask yourselves, was it Yost or was it the fact that we literally played no one.....we showed ourselves in the CSU (almost lost) & BSU games last year, they actually gave us problems. We came out swingin on Michigan St last yr and we came out swingin on Wake this year. Yost could not have helped us against LSU.
I think I'm also getting tired of everyone saying how much receiving talent we lost....THATS BS too! How does anyone know what we lost? We had a Pansy (I can't express myself without swearing) schedule and I could have caught balls out there. Tarver dropped as many balls as he caught, put him out there against this year's schedule and see what you get besides FLAGS! Aaren V & DJ Nelson, never really got much of a chance until mid season. AV did well. I'm not even going to discuss my Jordan. JG, was the most dependable.....Yost and Wells were switching personnel like yoyos out there.....no one ever really got their mojo going EXCEPT JG

Maybe you say USU was playing a "pansy (I can't express myself without swearing)" schedule. But's also relevant the average halftime score in the wins last year was 33-7. That's pretty darn impressive.taniataylor wrote: ↑October 9th, 2019, 12:26 pmOH NO WE DONT MISS YOST!

Roy, our SOS was so bad, it was all over the sports media, yea USU kicked Tenn Tech's butt but look at Tenn Tech, who are they? I'm sure I can find many threads that addressed how poor the competition was right on this board.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑October 9th, 2019, 12:29 pmMaybe you say USU was playing a "pansy a**" schedule. We barely survived an average CSU team and BSU brought us back down to earth. I almost forgot how Wyoming pretty much smacked our ASSES too!! (those teams would be comparing apples to apples) - so who were we really? OC Sanford could have been kick (I can't express myself without swearing) last year too with that schedule.
Let's put up some halftime scores like that this year, we wont, competition is real this year. This year's team probably would have had the same results as last year's team if scheduling were equal
