LSU up next, time to pull a Popovich
As fun as playing P5s can be this game is pointless in the grand scene of things. We have very little to gain and everything to lose if we suffer injuries to our starters, especially Love, Bright, Woodward, the Oline and our secondary.
I think we should sit the starters.
Go ahead and flame away, but I hate playing this game mid-season. And losing Warren tonight just strengthened my view.

It's definitely too late in the season for this game. Same for BYU. I hope that game happens on conference weekend at the latest.

Re: LSU up next, time to pull a Popovich
I love that this game is mid season. They are going to be overlooking us since they are already top 4 and have big games after us. Even with our struggles, our players are starting to get in mid season shape and familiar with Anderson’s system. I understand the injury part, but this game is huge for the boys with the national spotlight and media. This is their chance to prove it to the NFL scouts. Also, They wanna show the big boys that even though they weren’t five stars, they can still play and hang with a playoff caliber team. I don’t think they would be happy with sitting out, especially Love, as they have a chip on their shoulder from the Michigan State game and Wake Forest game.

I forgot to mention that with our secondary and inability to consistently pressure a QB that we’re going to get torched regardless of who plays.ThunderAggie wrote: ↑September 28th, 2019, 10:46 pmI love that this game is mid season. I know...I agree that there is a lot to lose, but I just hope to at least see the starters for a little while to see how we stack up against them. If we can hang with them till halftime, leave starters in. If its a blowout, pull our best players out or starters all together. I just want a respectable score and I’ve been excited for this game for a few ears.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:I forgot to mention that with our secondary and inability to consistently pressure a QB that we’re going to get torched regardless of who plays.ThunderAggie wrote: ↑September 28th, 2019, 10:46 pmI love that this game is mid season. But wouldn't it be something if we won?
Most likely we'll get beast by 35. Almost as likely that we have a chance to win, but find a way to lose in spectacular fashion. Then we'll talk for the next 10 years about how we almost beat LSU.

Winning, I posit, is winning a MWC championship. All this game is at this point is a distraction from that, a way to make $1.5 million, and a potentially dangerous game from an injury standpoint.

Every practice and every play has the potential risk of major injury. It is football. Strap it on and play.

Yep. I'd be pissed if I was a healthy Woodward or Tipa and they sat me on the big stage at LSU to concede the victory and go out like a lamb.
Man up and play. Give it your all and JFW.

On top of other reason, one reason this idea would be stupid is how it would be used against us in recruiting if we rested the starters conceding that we aren't even trying.

LSU up next, time to pull a Popovich
The main reason this game feels pointless is because USU never manages to pull one of these games off. It’s really frustrating. Maybe if I never get my hopes up they actually will pull a win out eventually.

Did NC sit their starters because Clemson is the # 1 team in the country? Did CSU sit their starters because we were 24 point favorites? Do you sit down to pee? Show some confidence, play your best. They aren’t from another planet- we’ve played teams with this size and speed before. It might be slim, but we do have a chance to win

Re: LSU up next, time to pull a Popovich
I have no problem wit the timing of the game. Would it be different it was the first or second game of the season? Would the players game plan differently for it in that case? I think you go out and give it your best shot. This will likely be a blow out, but there is no use playing scared, just go out give it all you have. It is nice being 2-0 in conference with a bye after the LSU game to help recover and get ready for a big game against Nevada.

We don’t play to lose we play to win.
Weird (I can't express myself without swearing) happens in football. SJSU was a 27 point dog at Arkansas I guess they decided to play.
We aren’t the (I can't express myself without swearing) team we once were and we should expect a bit more from our team.

I can think of 1.5 million reason why we need to play this game if we had better fan support there would be no reason to play them. In order to balance the budget this is necessary evil.

I’m in between. I wouldn’t play anyone who is iffy and I’d be cautious with some others but I wouldn’t bench everyone

Re: LSU up next, time to pull a Popovich
I don't understand this thought process at all. Why wouldn't we want to play a game at a national powerhouse, especially one with rich college football tradition such as LSU? BYU has great fan support and they line their schedule with some tough games. I see this as a great recruiting opportunity - sitting in a recruit's living room in 2017 who is deciding between us an another mid-major and telling him in two years we are playing in LSU is nice carrot to dangle; it's a chance to market our brand in the southeast and nationwide.
I just don't see a negative. No one expects us to win or even come close so losing by four td's doesn't hurt our reputation - it's LSU and they might be the best team in the country right now.

To me this a great opportunity. If we get smoked I am not going to be all that upset because LSU is a legitimate playoff contender. If we keep it close it gives us great confidence in moving forward. If we somehow pulled off the impossible upset well you know how awesome that would be.

If you think GA is even considering this, think back to our Auburn loss. Even though it was a loss, GA used our competitive play in that game as a recruiting tool. Used the national attention in our favor. GA has also always had the attitude that we're not going to be afraid of anyone.

Good comment Intermeddler. save the walking wounded for league play and let the team play. It is possible SDSU has a very, very tough defense and some of our R B's are pretty hammered. I also appreciate Bright getting 30 carries in the CSU game and feel for him and his possible aches and bruises.Intermeddler wrote: ↑September 29th, 2019, 5:48 pmI’m in between. Typically, when we play someone who is better we learn from that experience. On another note, I stand when I take a leak.

Guys, I think we may have just funded USU sports for the next century. Let's create the inverted testicle teepee.
Do your balls hang in the water when you are taking a dump?
Do you hate having to use the extra toilet paper to mop up the sewage water on your scrotum?...
Introducing the inverted testicle teeepeee. Never again will you need to worry about carrying harmful bacteria on your nutsack.
only $99.99
