answer #2: utah, mormons, politics, and policing. a sensitive confluence of factors where the mormons tend to want less alcohol and the pagans, heathens, sinners, or mormons like me who aren't hot and bothered by alcohol consumption contribute to an atmosphere where alcohol consumption at a tailgate is a practice worthy of suspicion and scrutiny, possibly inviting policing.

answer #3: ignore yahoos on the internet, come and tailgate, drink if you want to, but be sensitive to the culture and don't engage in wanton recklessness or alcohol fueled shenanigans.

I’ll be in spot 43, look for the Duely Truck with camper parked sideways. Cooler full of John Daley’s, lite beer, and Dt Mtn Dew incase Provo up. Will also have assorted meats and cheeses.

And I’m like this in real life, it’s not for everybody.

I think it was a joke about the alcohol that they would have at the tailgate. Though they may not actually have one and were purely making a joke.

I think we’d normally expect to move another 1,000 or so between now and kickoff but with the weather forecast my guess is walk up sales will be below normal

I'm really disappointed about this. It had all the makings of an incredible atmosphere. The weather in Cache Valley has been beautiful. Sold out stadium. Exciting opponent, etc.

However it's supposed to be cold and raining the whole time. It'll hurt attendance and I imagine not be an enjoyable experience for a lot of people.

It wasn't the year of their BCS team, it was a few years later and McMackin was their head coach. I was on the ball crew on the Hawaii sideline...cold as can be...and they didn't seem to be bothered too much by the weather as they put a beat down on the Aggies and ran their mouths incessantly.

Being on the ball crew on the opposing teams sideline is fun...but it can get really grating to hear them jeer and deride our players and program the whole game...especially when they are winning big.

I will say in several years of doing the ball crew on quite a few occasions...the most out of control and downright offensive team to be around were the Idaho teams that Rob Akey coached...it seemed their was no accountability and they were a foul bunch.

I know the guy that has been doing it for a very long time. He sometimes needs people to fill in for him so he knows me, my brother and my dad are all big Aggie fans and he will often invite us to fill in. So the short answer is...you need to know someone and hope that he has a need for someone to fill in...otherwise...it's tough.

That was the year the team left half way through the first quarter. That is the maddest I have ever been at a Utah State team

I remember this game, definitely the rainiest Aggie game I’ve been to. Was also my oldest son’s first game ever, he was about 6 at the time, and it forged him into an Aggie for life. We were two of the few that stayed the whole game. We did move from the cement bleachers to the aluminum raised bleachers in the student section at half time to avoid the river of water that was running down our backs as it cascaded down the cement bleachers. Taught him a good lesson that day, we go to watch the team play and cheer them on, not to see who won. We’ve never left a game even one second before the final whistle blows, including that game, to this day.

Are you confusing this with the New Mexico game that sameseason? I remember the CSU game, there was no rain, also, to me the wettest game was against Hawaii when everyone minus a couple hundred fans left at half time.
I remember this game, definitely the rainiest Aggie game I’ve been to. Was also my oldest son’s first game ever, he was about 6 at the time, and it forged him into an Aggie for life. We were two of the few that stayed the whole game. We did move from the cement bleachers to the aluminum raised bleachers in the student section at half time to avoid the river of water that was running down our backs as it cascaded down the cement bleachers. Taught him a good lesson that day, we go to watch the team play and cheer them on, not to see who won. We’ve never left a game even one second before the final whistle blows, including that game, to this day.

My son and I stayed for the whole game also. It was awful. And then the Hawaii fans started making their rounds chanting and yelling at all the various portals. They came to our area and I told them (ok, screamed at them) to shut their mouths and move on. Oddly, they did.

I will say in several years of doing the ball crew on quite a few occasions...the most out of control and downright offensive team to be around were the Idaho teams that Rob Akey coached...it seemed their was no accountability and they were a foul bunch.

Just a question, were they just unpleasant when they were beating us big in 2010, or were they just as bad or worse when they lost to us in 2008 and 2012 when they were under an interim coach.

I do remember there was a brawl in 2012 that starting with Craig Harrison completing a pass to himself for negative yards.

The rainiest football game I’ve ever sat through was September 13, 1997 in Logan against Colorado State. It was a steady rain for at least half of the game, and I stayed for the entire 35-24 loss.

It was one of only three games against CSU between 1979 and 2011. Somehow, it was a home game in Logan that stood on its own without a return trip to Ft. Collins. The road game must have been cancelled as part of the schedule shake-up due to the formation of the MWC and other conference realignment.

CSU and USU have played almost every year for the past century except for that three-decade stretch.

Anyway, I’m hoping the weather is better this Saturday, but it might turn out quite chilly and wet.

That game was absolutely miserable, soaked to the bone! We sent our 2yr old home at half time with my sister in law. I'd much rather have snow than a torrential downpour.

I remember the Hawaii game clearly because at least one of the USU players called out the fans for leaving at halftime. To no one in particular, I remember saying, "Why should the fans stay when the team didn't show up for the second half?"

That was a weird game. A funny spot, though: a USU special teams guy, unable to make his block on one of the many Hawaii kickoffs, grabbed the long pony tail of a Hawaii player to slow him down. Ref watched it happening but didn't have the heart to throw a flag, I guess.

Isn't hair considered part of the uniform? I thought it was ok to do that if you want, even though it is pretty lame.I could totally be wrong

gamefaqs it was that 2010 beatdown...just sucked in every way. I actually sent an email to coach Akey and of course didn't get a response of any kind. I wasn't on the sidelines for the other two games.
