Re: Vandals VS Pokes
Wyoming could play the Patriots to a one-score game. Unbelievable consistency to always play a slow game at the level of your opponent.
Once again fewer total yards, first downs, and TOP.
Wyoming could easily be 0-3, but Craig Bohl lives on the edge. Others have merely adapted to it.

Re: Vandals VS Pokes
Wyoming shouldn't have even won the game today, struggled last week, and were handed the Mizzou game on a platter. They're not that impressive thus far despite their record.

Re: Vandals VS Pokes
Again, why do we have the need to try to downplay our opponent and conference mate? They're 3-0 and have a win over an SEC team that will probably win some conference games.
All downplaying does is downplays our win or makes our loss look worse. I think Wyoming has been a pretty solid team that has shown a tendency to play to the level of whoever their opponent is.

And Wyoming is 3-0 at this juncture..I think winning the close ones is a mark of player mental toughness and coaching tenacity.

Yeah too bad we beat the living hell out of Stony Brook and didn’t get to showcase our toughness and tenacity.NavyBlueAggie wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 9:22 amAnd Wyoming is 3-0 at this juncture..I think winning the close ones is a mark of player mental toughness and coaching tenacity.

Re: Vandals VS Pokes
I'm still rooting for them to win and I'm glad they are 3-0 but that doesn't remove the fact that they have looked pretty poor. It will be interesting to see how they perform in conference. I don't think it is WYO that is playing down to their competition, I think it has been the other teams playing down to WYOs level. Maybe they can continue to make the game ugly and win that way - that seems to be their M.O.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 9:21 amAgain, why do we have the need to try to downplay our opponent and conference mate? Re: Vandals VS Pokes
We arent downplaying these guys.. ya the sec win was impressive but the last two games have been ugly! We are just stating things as they are.. they are not a very good teamRoy McAvoy wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 9:21 amAgain, why do we have the need to try to downplay our opponent and conference mate? Re: Vandals VS Pokes
The thing is, just cause someone posts that a team looks bad, doesn't mean they are happy about it. Most of us want Wyoming to not play down to competition and were unhappy about them doing so. And at that, it's a bad sign they play up and down to competition as we can expect them to play to our level against us.

Re: Vandals VS Pokes
For some good teams, ugly is their signature. I can't think of a single championship NY Giants team that won pretty. They just won.
We should prepare for an ugly, challenging game when we play Wyoming.

Was their defense ugly? To me, that is their MO right now. They win with ugly defense.

Re: Vandals VS Pokes
Two things I believe in my heart:
1. Wyoming is not an elite team in the MWC this year.
2. Our game against them will be decided by less than one TD.
They play ugly, they shorten the game, and they do little things to keep themselves competitive. It's like arguing with an idiot, they always bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Re: Vandals VS Pokes
They are pretty ugly on both sides of the ball. All three teams they have played marched up and down the field on them but then made stupid mistakes in critical times of the game and in critical spots on the field (not so unlike we did against WF).
This is not some elite defense that they may have had a year or two ago. They are currently ranked something like #102 in total defense. That is with Texas St. and Idaho factored in as 2 of 3 opponents. They can't rely on a stiff defense to bail out their inept offense this year.

Re: Vandals VS Pokes
Yet Wyoming is 3-0...not a bad start for any season, any time. Gotta respect that reality.
