Re: Any visitors this weekend
I hear coach Smith is driving his RZR this weekend and didn’t have time to entertain recruits...

It was fun to watch Coach interact with the recruit as well as the fan base.

Isaac Vaha from Pleasant Grove was there. I believe he's the guy in the photo above.

I don’t know anything about this kid, but I hope we always prioritize the best Utah players before going out of state.

We shouldn't. Look at how well it's worked out for byu. Just go find the best players that will fit the program.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑September 8th, 2019, 4:10 pmI don’t know anything about this kid, but I hope we always prioritize the best Utah players before going out of state.

Re: Any visitors this weekend
I don’t think I’ve ever disagreed with you... but I still think we should prioritize utah players. That doesn’t mean we should only take them, but if there’s a good player in Utah, it makes everything easier for USU. The instate player understands the culture and will be less likely to transfer. They’re also more likely to choose an instate school, so we have a built-in recruiting advantage.aggies22 wrote: ↑September 8th, 2019, 4:58 pmWe shouldn't. Look at how well it's worked out for byu. Additionally, the BYU example might not be the best, considering the best years under Steve featured a lot of Utah players. Also, our best player right now is from Utah. Again, not saying we should take whoever from instate, but I’d like to see us compete for the top players consistently.
Last thought, I REALLY like the international recruiting. I think chances of hitting a home run are a lot higher than finding under-recruited players in the US. We’ll see with these guys in the next couple of years.
Note: all statistics are my own; made up from my own personal perspectives.

Ronnie thinks he’s going to a Kentucky type program.bpd wrote:Another one was Isaac Ross (the son of Ronnie Ross). He will be extremely highly recruited.

You mean this kid? From what I understand is that he could be a 4-5 star type talent.

Got to be honest. His highlight video doesn’t seem like a coach Smith kind of guy. More like a Mark DeAntoni type. Not sure if he’ll buckle down defensively and share the ball. By the way I hate that the Jordan off hand move has become so mainstream and widely accepted.

Re: Any visitors this weekend
Was it just the choice in music that gave you this impression? I honestly didn’t see anything in the video that lead me to believe anything either way about his defense.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑September 9th, 2019, 6:28 pmthe music on his tweet, NSFWAggie in Boise wrote: ↑September 9th, 2019, 11:32 amAny news on Quincy McGrath?

My impression — he seemed like a crafty player with a nice stepback, with good, but not great, athleticism.

Pleasant Grove should think long and hard about changing its name, culture, and vibe to Pleasant Groove. It could suddenly become a livable destination community.

Re: Any visitors this weekend
It's easy to sum it up when you're just talking about highlights. We're sitting in here, and you're supposed to have all these insights, and we in here talking about highlights. I mean, listen, we're talking about highlights, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking about highlights. Not a game. Not the game that Quincy goes out there and dies for and plays every game like it's his last. Not the game, but we're talking about highlights, man. I mean, how silly is that?hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑September 9th, 2019, 6:28 pmGot to be honest. His highlight video doesn’t seem like a coach Smith kind of guy. More like a Mark DeAntoni type.
